This document describes the Senssun Bluetooth Body Fat Scale (model iF1917B), a smart body fat scale designed to help users track their weight and body composition via Bluetooth technology.

Function Description

The Senssun Bluetooth Body Fat Scale is a high-precision instrument equipped with a strain gauge sensor. Its primary function is to measure body weight and estimate body fat percentage, along with other body composition indices. The scale transmits this data to a connected smartphone application (SenssunLife APP) via Bluetooth. The APP then stores and tracks the user's measurements, displaying trends and historical records. This allows users to monitor their progress over time and manage their weight effectively. The scale operates continuously and is internally powered by 3VDC (two AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries). It is designed as a Type BF applied part, meaning it has a specified degree of protection against electric shock.

Usage Features

Battery Installation and Power: To begin using the scale, open the battery cover on the back and install two or four 1.5V AAA batteries according to the polarity markings. If batteries are already installed, remove any insulating strip. After installation, close the battery cover. It is recommended to remove the batteries if the scale will not be used for an extended period (more than three months) to prevent leakage. The expected service life of the ME equipment is 5 years.

APP Download and Setup: The SenssunLife APP is essential for utilizing the full features of the scale. Users can download the application by searching for "SenssunLife" in the App Store (for iOS systems, version 4.3 or above) or Google Play, or by scanning the provided QR code.

Registering and Connecting: Once the APP is installed, open it and ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone. The scale's LCD should be lighted up. Connect the device with the APP and submit your personal profile. Accurate personal information is crucial for obtaining precise measurements. The APP allows users to set personal parameters such as gender, height (100-250cm), and age (10-100 years). If the scale model does not have physical buttons for setting parameters, these must be configured via the APP. The APP automatically assigns a user code.

Weighing Process: For accurate measurements, place the scale on a hard, flat floor. Step onto the scale with bare feet, ensuring your feet make contact with the electrodes on the platform. The scale will display a stable weight reading, which will then flash before being transmitted to the APP. The scale will shut off automatically after several seconds. The APP will then display and save all body composition indices and historical records. To ensure proper body fat measurement, it is critical to keep bare feet on the electrodes. For consistent data accuracy, it is recommended to take measurements at the same time each day.

Warning Indications: The scale provides several warning indications:

• 0000 (Fat Measuring): Indicates that fat measurement is in progress. Users should not step off the scale and ensure bare feet are touching the electrodes.
• Lo (Low Battery Indication): Signals that battery power is low and batteries need to be replaced.
• Err (Over-load Indication): Appears if the weighing subject exceeds the scale's maximum capacity. Users should step off immediately to prevent damage.
• [ (Calibration Error): Indicates a calibration error, requiring a re-test for correct results.
• Errl (Low Fat% Indication): Suggests that the body fat percentage is too low, advising a more nutritional diet.
• Errh (High Fat% Indication): Suggests that the body fat percentage is too high, advising dietary changes and more exercise.

Weight Unit Setting: The weight unit can be set via the APP or by pressing the UNIT button on the back of the scale to convert between kilograms and pounds.

Environmental Conditions: The scale is designed for normal working conditions within an atmospheric pressure range of 86kPa to 106kPa, temperature of 5°C to 40°C, and humidity of 30% to 90% RH. For storage and transportation, the temperature range is -25°C to 55°C, and humidity is 10% to 95% RH. The device has an IP21 rating, meaning it is protected against solid foreign objects of 12.5mm and greater, and against vertically falling water drops. If the device is moved from extreme storage temperatures to a 20°C environment, it requires at least two hours to recover to normal working mode.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: To clean the scale, switch off the device and disconnect it from any power supply. Use a damp cloth with lukewarm water and a non-abrasive liquid household cleaner (avoiding abrasive or alcohol-content solutions). Do not use solvents.

General Care and Safety:

• Avoid using the scale in humid or overheated environments (temperature range from 5°C to 40°C).
• Always stand steadily on the scale and ensure bare feet touch the electrodes. Stepping on the edge of the scale can cause it to tip over.
• Do not drop, shock, or strike the scale, as it is a precise instrument.
• Do not use acid cleaning agents.
• Avoid using the scale on intensely shaky surfaces.
• Remove batteries if the scale will not be used for a long time to prevent leakage and corrosion.
• Pregnant women, individuals with edema, or those undergoing dialysis treatment are advised against using the device.
• Individuals with heart pacemakers or other implanted medical devices are forbidden from using the device.
• Discontinue use if the bottom case is broken.
• The Fat% and Hydration% content provided by the scale are for reference only and not for medical purposes. Consult a doctor if these values are outside normal levels.
• Keep the scale away from strong electromagnetic fields.
• Do not use the scale on damp floors or stand on its edge, as it may tip.
• The device should only be used with manufacturer-recommended accessories.
• Avoid exposing the scale to sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, dust, corrosive gas, or liquids.
• Keep the device out of reach of children and pets to prevent inhalation or swallowing of small parts.
• Do not place heavy objects on the storage case.
• The typical service life of new and unused batteries is 500 measurements for an operation time of 60 seconds.

Troubleshooting:

• Software not obtaining weighing results: Confirm the connection sign on the APP interface, ensure Bluetooth is on on both the device and scale within range, check battery power, relaunch the application, and try turning Bluetooth off and on again.
• Failure to connect to device: Ensure only one device is attempting to connect and that your device is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 or above.
• LCD has no response: Check and replace batteries if necessary. Repairs should only be performed by authorized customer service or dealers.

Compliance and Service: The device complies with Part 15 of FCC Rules. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits. It is designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. The equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 5mm between the radiator and the user's body. Servicing, repairs, and opening of the device should only be performed by authorized sales centers. Users can request sensor accuracy calibration every two years. Any unexpected operations or events should be reported to GUANGDONG SENSSUN WEIGHING APPARATUS GROUP LTD.
