Questions and Answers

Overview

This document is a user manual for a Servis Washing Machine, designed to provide years of trouble-free service. The machine incorporates HydroDrive Technology, which enhances washing performance by circulating detergent water through two injection mechanisms and injecting it over the laundry. This technology also allows for washing more laundry in less time, using less energy and water.

Usage Features:

The washing machine features a control panel with a program dial, digital display, wash level display, function display, and an Easy Iron indicator. It also includes buttons for adjusting water temperature, spin speed, delay start, Easy Iron, and Start/Pause.

  • Program Dial: Allows users to select from 15 pre-set wash programs by turning the dial clockwise or anti-clockwise.
  • Digital Display: Shows water temperature, spin speed, and program status. It also reports faults.
  • Wash Level Display: Indicates the current wash stage, including pre-wash, rinse, and spin/drain programs.
  • Water Temperature Adjustment Button: Changes the temperature of the wash.
  • RPM Speed Adjustment Button: Adjusts the spin speed or switches off the spin option. Spin speeds range up to 1400 rpm.
  • Delay Start Selection Button: Sets a time delay before the program starts.
  • Easy Iron Button: Activates the Easy Iron function to reduce wrinkles in laundry.
  • Start/Pause Button: Starts or pauses the selected program.
  • Child Lock: Can be activated by holding down the Delay Start and Easy Iron buttons for 3 seconds, locking the control panel. The same action releases the child lock.
  • Cancelling a Programme: A program can be stopped by turning the program dial to the top (off) position. Any water left in the machine will be discharged when another program is selected.
  • Programme End: The machine automatically stops when a program finishes, and the digital display flashes "End."
  • Removing Laundry: After a program finishes, the door lock releases after approximately 2 minutes. Users should open the door, remove laundry, check the drum and door seal for small articles, and leave the door open to dry the interior.
  • Power Supply Failure: If a power cut occurs during a program, the machine will resume from the same point once power is restored. The door lock mechanism releases after 2 minutes during a power cut, but users should not open the door if there is water inside; the machine must be drained first.

Preparing Laundry:

Users are advised to empty pockets, brush out sand and dirt, close zips, fasten hooks and eyes, turn items like trousers and t-shirts inside out, remove weights from curtains, and remove or sew in loose wiring from bras and shirt collars. Laundry should be sorted by color, washing whites and colors separately. Dark textiles may contain excess dye and should be washed separately several times. Care labels on clothing should be followed, and non-washable items should not be put in the machine. Badly soiled areas can be pre-treated with liquid detergent or stain removers. Solvent-based cleaning agents should be rinsed off before loading.

Loading the Drum:

The door is opened using the handle, and clothing should be loaded loosely. Mixing large and small items helps distribute the load evenly during spinning. The maximum load capacity of the drum should not be exceeded to ensure good wash results and prevent creasing.

Detergent and Additives:

  • Detergent Drawer: Has compartments for main wash detergent, fabric conditioner/liquid starch, and pre-wash detergent.
  • Fluid Detergents: Can be used in all programs without pre-wash by sliding the fluid detergent level plate into compartment II.
  • Detergent Amount: Depends on dirtiness and water hardness. Too little detergent can lead to poorly washed, grey, stiff laundry, fat spots, and limescale. Too much detergent can cause excessive foam and increased water consumption.
  • Automatic Washing Machine Detergents: Any type can be used. Dispensing aids (balls) are recommended. Tablets are suitable for full loads but may not dissolve quickly in short cycles.
  • Water Softener: Can be used in hard water areas, added after detergent.
  • Fabric Conditioners and Liquid Starch: Poured into the designated compartment, taking care not to exceed the MAX level.
  • Half-Load Detection System: Automatically activates when less than half the maximum load is present, reducing program time, water, and energy consumption.

Spin Selection:

Users can select a spin speed based on laundry type. The machine automatically overrides unsuitable spin speeds. An in-built sensor prevents operation with an out-of-balance load, attempting to balance it before the spin cycle. If balancing is not possible, the spin cycle is aborted. To reduce this, users should avoid small wash loads with items that absorb a lot of water.

Maintenance Features:

Routine maintenance is necessary to ensure proper operation.

  • Before Cleaning: Turn off the mains power supply, remove the plug, and turn off the cold water supply.
  • Cleaning Agents: Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners, or all-purpose cleaning agents, as they can damage plastic surfaces and components.
  • External Casing: Clean with a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent or soap and water, then wipe dry with a soft cloth.
  • Drum: Clean with a suitable stainless steel cleaning agent, following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Extra Cleaning: To prevent deposits from building up, especially with low-temperature washes, perform a hot wash (70°C or above) every 6 weeks. If not washing at high temperatures regularly, run a high-temperature cottons program with detergent but no laundry.
  • Water Inlet Filters: Prevent dirt from entering the machine. Clean them if the machine does not receive sufficient water despite the supply being on.
    • Cleaning Process: Unscrew the water inlet hose, gently pull it off. Use long-nosed pliers to pull the plastic bar in the filter from the water inlet valve. Clean the filter thoroughly with a soft brush, soapy water, and rinse. Re-insert the filter by gently pushing it back into place. A second filter in the tap end of the hose can be cleaned similarly.
  • Pump Filter: Prolongs pump life by preventing lint. Clean every 2-3 months. The filter is behind a cover on the front-lower right corner.
    • Cleaning Process: Place a container under the filter cover to collect water. Pull the top of the cover forwards to expose the filter. Loosen the filter by turning anti-clockwise and remove it, allowing water to drain. Remove foreign materials with a soft brush, check that the pump rotates freely, and clean the pump. Re-fit the filter by inserting and turning clockwise, then close the cover. Wait for the water to cool before cleaning.
  • Detergent Drawer: Remove and clean regularly to prevent residue build-up.
    • Removal Process: Pull the drawer fully forwards. Press down on the siphon lid and pull the drawer from its housing. Clean the drawer with water and a soft brush. Remove any residue from the drawer housing with a soft brush, taking care not to drop it into the machine.
    • Replacement Process: Dry thoroughly and slide back into the housing.
  • Siphon Plug: Located in the detergent drawer compartment. Remove by pulling upwards, clean with a soft brush, and replace, ensuring it is firmly in position.
