Thermal safety cut-out
Should the level of oil or broth fall below
the safe operating level, the integral
thermal safety cut-out will be activated
and the heating element will switch off. If
this occurs, allow suf cient time for the
appliance to cool down, then add the
required amount of oil or broth.
Should the safety cut-out be activated
repeatedly despite having suf cient oil
or broth in the container, the appliance
must no longer be used; instead, have it
examined by a quali ed person before it
is used again.
Before using for the rst time
Before rst use, the unit should be cleaned
as described in the section Cleaning and
care.
Oil/Fat container
General:
Before heating up, the ll amount must
be between the minimum and maximum
ll level marks.
Note: the difference between the
minimum and maximum marks is
approx. 470ml.
Oil:
We recommend the use of oil speci cally
intended for deep-frying which may be
safely heated to high temperatures. The
maximum safe capacity of the container
is approx. 950 ml. Do not exceed the
maximum mark.
Solidi ed fat:
Never melt solidi ed fat in an empty
unit. However, solidi ed fat may be
added straight into the container if it
already contains liquid fat at least up to
the minimum mark.
With solidi ed fat, approx. 950 g should
be used. The fat should be cut into
smaller pieces rst and melted in a
separate pot, ensuring that it just reaches
a liquid state but is not over-heated: this
is to avoid the danger of burns when
pouring the fat into the frying container
afterwards. Do not exceed the maximum
mark.
Deep-fryer operation
Only pure vegetable oil/fat should be
used, which can be heated up to 220°C
and is neutral in taste.
Do not mix different kinds of oil/fat.
Fondue operation
Use only broth or pure vegetable oil.
The fat must be suitable for raising to
high temperatures and neutral in taste.
Types of fat that tend to spatter or smoke
when heated are not suitable. Other oil or
animal fats should therefore not be used.
Frying basket
The basket is designed to hold the food
to be fried. It has a maximum capacity
of 200 g.
Always use the handle when putting
the basket into the fat/oil container or
removing it.
Basket handle
Fitting the handle:
Push the two hooks on the handle
together, and then insert them, one by
one, into the corresponding openings on
the basket (see illustration).
