- Common sense and caution are essential during operation.
Work Area:
- Keep the work area clean, free of clutter, and well lit to avoid accidents.
- Keep children and bystanders away from the operating area to prevent distractions and ensure safety.
- Be aware of surroundings, especially in confined work areas, to avoid dangerous situations.
Personal Safety:
- Stay alert and use common sense; do not operate when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
- Dress properly: avoid loose clothing, dangling objects, jewelry, and long hair that could get caught in moving parts.
- Use approved safety goggles or glasses and other necessary equipment.
Manual Lever Hoist Use and Care:
- Do not modify the hoist in any way, as this can impair function, safety, and equipment life.
- Always inspect for damaged or worn parts before use and replace or repair them immediately.
- Do not exceed the stated load capacity.
- Distribute loads evenly to prevent tipping and injury.
- Use the hoist on flat, level surfaces capable of supporting the hoist and its maximum load.
- Store the hoist in a secure place out of reach of children and inspect it before re-use.
- NEVER walk or stand under a raised load.
Operation and Installation:
- WARNINGS:
- Read and understand all safety precautions.
- NEVER OVERLOAD the hoist. Ensure the operator is familiar with controls.
- DO NOT LIFT PEOPLE or PETS.
- NEVER stand or walk under a raised load.
- Maintain a firm footing and secure position when operating.
- NEVER use the hoist with kinked, twisted, or damaged chains or hooks; repair before use.
- NEVER lift more than the rated capacity.
- ALWAYS lift the load slowly.
- NEVER leave a suspended load unattended.
Installation Steps:
- Estimate the load to ensure it does not exceed capacity.
- Ensure the upper hook's support is strong enough to hold several times the load's weight.
- Confirm the hoist is solidly held in the uppermost part of the upper hook, with the latch closed and not contacting the support.
- Ensure the hoist is rigged so that upper and lower hooks form a straight line during operation, and the frame can swivel freely without contact.
Hoisting and Lowering:
- Hoisting (pulling): Set the selector lever to the "UP" (Left) position. Turn the handle clockwise to hoist the load chain.
- Lowering (releasing): Set the selector lever to the "DOWN" (Right) position. Turn the handle counterclockwise to lower the load.
Free Chaining:
- This feature allows quick adjustments of the load chain length.
- Set the selector lever to the middle position and pull the load chain in the desired direction.
- Free chaining is not possible if:
- The handle is in contact with something and not rotating freely.
- The lever hoist is under a load.
- The brake has locked due to a large or abrupt load; turn the handle 45 degrees counterclockwise to unlock the brake.
- WARNING: Pull the chain slowly and carefully, as the handle may spin under free chaining, potentially causing loss of load.
Maintenance Features
- General Maintenance:
- Maintain the hoist by regularly examining its general condition before use.
- Adopt a program of conscientious repair and maintenance.
- Have necessary repairs performed by qualified service personnel.
- Keep all moving parts well lubricated.
