This document provides installation and operating instructions for a Siemens continuous-flow heater, a Class I appliance designed for domestic and household-based, non-commercial applications. It is suitable for use in various settings such as employee catering facilities, offices, agricultural operations, guest houses, small hotels, and similar residential establishments. The appliance must be permanently connected to installed pipes, and the conductor cross-section must comply with the installed appliance power. It is suitable for connection to DVGW-tested plastic pipes and must only be installed in a frost-free room.
The continuous-flow heater is designed to provide hot water on demand. It operates by heating water as it flows through the unit. The device offers two heating settings: "Economy setting e" for reduced power and "Intensive setting II" for full power. The specific power output varies by model, ranging from 12 kW to 24 kW, and is compatible with rated voltages of 220 V3~, 230 V3~, 380 V3~, and 400 V3~.
The appliance features a control knob for selecting the desired temperature or power setting. It is equipped with safety mechanisms, including an automatic circuit breaker that activates in case of malfunction or leakage. In such events, the power supply must be disconnected, and the cold water supply to the appliance must be shut off. Repairs should only be performed by factory service or an authorized service agent.
The continuous-flow heater models covered by this manual include DH12400, DH12401, DH18400, DH21400, DH24400, DH40018, DH40021, and DH40024.
The continuous-flow heater is designed for ease of use. To increase water temperature, the warm water tap should be opened slightly. To decrease water temperature, the cold water tap should be opened.
The "e" setting is ideal for washbasins, showers, and bidets. The "II" setting is used in combination with a thermostatically-controlled mixer for high temperatures or large volumes of water, suitable for dishwashing, cleaning, and bath tubs.
In case of low water pressure, if the appliance does not reach full power, the flow limiter (if installed) can be removed. This is detailed in the "Additional Information" section of the manual.
For combination with electric storage heaters, a priority switch (load shedding relay) BZ 45L21 can be used. A pipe set BZ 45U20 is available for under-sink installation, and a mounting set BZ 45K23 is available for surface-mount installation.
Regular cleaning of the appliance is recommended using a damp cloth. Abrasive or aggressive cleaning detergents should not be used. The manual explicitly states not to use a steam cleaner.
The appliance does not typically require descaling, but if hard water causes limescale deposits, a service agent should be contacted.
In winter, if the desired water temperature is not reached due to low inlet temperatures, the warm water tap should be opened fully, and the cold water tap should be reduced to compensate and achieve the desired temperature.
The manual also provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as low water flow, insufficient hot water, or the appliance not switching on. These issues often relate to clogged filters or valves, or electrical supply problems, and solutions range from cleaning components to contacting a specialist.
