Overview

The Sigma Spectrum Pump is an infusion device designed for precise and controlled delivery of fluids and medications to patients. It is intended for use by trained healthcare professionals and offers a range of features to ensure safe and efficient infusions.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Sigma Spectrum Pump is to administer intravenous fluids and medications at a programmed rate and volume. It supports both primary and secondary infusions, allowing for complex medication regimens. The pump utilizes a drug library to help prevent medication errors by providing pre-programmed drug concentrations and dose limits. It also features a titrate function, enabling adjustments to flow rate and volume to be infused (VTBI) without interrupting the infusion. The device is equipped with various alarms to alert operators to potential issues, such as occlusions, air in line, or completion of infusion, enhancing patient safety.

Usage Features:

The pump's interface is designed for ease of use, featuring a clear screen and soft keys for navigation and input.

Starting a New Infusion:

  1. Power On: Press the POWER ON KEY and wait for the device to complete its power-up sequence.
  2. Set Loading:
    • Gravity prime the IV set to remove all air from Y sites and the backcheck valve. Position and close the roller clamp below the pump.
    • Insert the slide clamp into the keyhole on top of the pump.
    • Push down on the slide clamp until the door opens.
    • Load the tubing into the tubing guides, ensuring the fluid flow is directed from the IV container to the patient. The loading sequence starts with the slide clamp at the top, proceeding through guides 2, 3, and 4.
    • Close the door by pressing with both thumbs over the latches at the top and bottom.
    • Proper loading is confirmed when the screen displays three green bars and check marks.
    • To open the slide clamp, hold the tubing down at the keyhole while pulling the slide clamp up and out. Open the roller clamp and confirm no flow.
  3. New Patient Prompt: If previous infusion data exists, the pump will ask if the intended use is for a New Patient. Answering YES clears existing data, while NO retains it, allowing the operator to resume the infusion.
  4. Select Your Care Area: Use the soft arrow keys to scroll to the desired care area and press OK.
