1Victorian Door Knob & Plate Set Installation Instructions
VICTORIAN DOOR KNOB AND PLATE SET
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before you begin, read the installation instructions below. Observe all local building and safety codes. For the following
installation instructions it is assumed that holes for the handle and lock set are pre-drilled.
Unpack and inspect the product for any shipping damages and ensure that none of the required pieces are missing. If
you nd damages, do not install. Contact Customer Service at 1.866.855.2284. If you need assistance or have questions
while installing your door handle and plate set, contact Customer Service.
We recommend consulting a professional if you are unfamiliar with installing hardware xtures. Signature Hardware
accepts no liability for any damage to the handle, lock set, or door, or for personal injury during installation.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS:
Pencil Screwdriver
Wood Chisel
Drill
DUMMY SET INSTALLATION
1. Remove the set screws on the door knobs (B) with the
Allen wrench provided (C) to disconnect the knobs.
2. Position the dummy spindle (E) in the desired
mounting location.
3. Mark the mounting hole locations on the door.
4. Drill pilot holes with the appropriate drill bit for your
installation.
5. Secure the spindle to the door with the provided wood
screws (D).
6. Thread the decorative escutcheon (A) onto the
dummy spindle. Secure to the door with screws.
7. Thread the door knob (B) onto the dummy spindle.
8. Place a set screw in the set screw hole on the side
of the door knob. Use the provided Allen wrench (C) to
secure.

Dummy Set Installation

Remove Knob Set Screws

Disconnect knobs by removing set screws with the provided Allen wrench.

Place the dummy spindle in the desired mounting location on the door.

Mark the locations for the mounting holes on the door.

Drill Pilot Holes

Drill pilot holes using the appropriate drill bit for installation.

Secure Spindle to Door

Secure the spindle to the door using the provided wood screws.

Attach Decorative Escutcheon

Thread the decorative escutcheon onto the dummy spindle and secure it.

Thread Door Knob Onto Spindle

Thread the door knob onto the dummy spindle.

Secure Door Knob Set Screw

Insert and tighten the set screw on the door knob using the Allen wrench.

Passage Set Installation

Remove Knob Set Screws

Disconnect knobs from the spindle using the provided Allen wrench.

Insert Latch Bolt

Insert the latch bolt into the side of the door.

Secure Latch Bolt Assembly

Drill pilot holes and secure the latch bolt and faceplate with screws.

Insert Passage Spindle

Push the latch bolt in and insert the passage spindle through the door.

Attach Escutcheon and Spindle

Thread the decorative escutcheon onto the spindle and attach it.

Thread Door Knob Onto Spindle

Thread the door knob onto the spindle.

Secure Knob Set Screw

Place and tighten the set screw on the door knob using the Allen wrench.

Install Strike Plate

Mark door frame, close door, and secure strike plate with screws.

Mortise Strike Plate (If Needed)

If flush is not achieved, carefully chisel the door frame for the strike plate.

Privacy Set Installation

Insert Latch Bolt

Insert the latch bolt into the side of the door.

Secure Latch Bolt Assembly

Drill pilot holes and secure the latch bolt and faceplate with screws.

Insert Passage Spindle

Push the latch bolt in and insert the passage spindle through the door.

Attach Exterior Knob and Escutcheon

Thread the exterior door knob and decorative escutcheon onto the latch bolt assembly.

Fit Interior Knob and Escutcheon

Fit the interior door knob and escutcheon over the spindle, aligning screw holes.

Secure Exterior Knob Set Screw

Place and tighten the set screw on the exterior door knob using the Allen wrench.

Secure Exterior Knob Assembly

Hand-thread and firmly tighten mounting screws through the exterior door knob.

Secure Interior Knob Set Screw

Place and tighten the set screw on the interior door knob using the Allen wrench.

Insert Privacy Pin

Insert the privacy pin through the interior knob into the latch bolt hole and rotate.

Install Strike Plate

Mark door frame, close door, and secure strike plate with screws.

Mortise Strike Plate (If Needed)

If flush is not achieved, carefully chisel the door frame for the strike plate.

Secure Strike Box and Plate

Secure the strike box and strike plate to the door frame with the remaining screws.
