The icons have the following meanings:

Resolution
The resolution determines the size of the recording in pixels. As a
general rule: The higher the resolution, the more storage space is
required. The following settings are available:

Your camcorder supports recording in modern wide-screen format.
However, not all of the resolutions available offer a 16:9 aspect
ratio: for the QVGA setting the aspect ratio is downscaled to 4:3
automatically. In this case, when aiming the device to the scene,
the screen preview already contains black bars on the left and
right.
