SYSTEM OPERATIONS-40
Fuel Supply Valves
If your 38SB is powered by gasoline en-
gines, it is equipped with an anti-siphon
valves, located on each fuel supply hose
at its connection to its respective fuel tank
pickup tube. The purpose of the anti-si-
phon valve is to immediately stop the fl ow
of fuel from the fuel tank in the event of
a break in the fuel supply hose. The anti-
siphon valves are automatic and do not
require manual operation.
Fuel Filtration
The fuel that is supplied to the engines
and generator (if so equipped) may con-
tain impurities found in the fuel tanks or
contained in the fuel from your supplier.
If these impurities are not removed prior
to entering the engines/generator, perfor-
mance may be seriously affected. Remov-
al of the fuel impurities is accomplished
by external fuel fi
lters, which are located
within the fuel supply line.
If your 38SB is equipped with gasoline en-
gines, each engine has its own separate
fuel fi lter, located on the forward inboard
side of the engine.
If your 38SB is equipped with diesel
engines, each engine has a separate fuel
fi lter located away from the engine.
If your 38SB is equipped with a genera-
tor, a remote fuel fi lter with a fuel shut-off
valve is located in the main generator fuel
supply line, separate from the engine fuel
supply lines. The photo below shows the
generator fuel fi lter.
An Authorized Silverton Service Techni-
cian should replace all fuel fi lters annually
prior to spring launch.
Generator Fuel Selector Valve
If your 38SB is equipped with a generator,
a fuel tank selector valve is located aft of
the generator. This valve determines the
tank from which the generator will draw its
fuel from. The photo below shows the Fuel
Selector Valve for a diesel set-up.
If your 38SB is diesel powered, the gen-
erator fuel selector Valve also determines
the tank to which the unused fuel is re-
turned. This fuel is always returned to the
same tank that is supplying the fuel to the
generator.
