iNSTAkLAT!ON SUMMARY
The following is a set of recommended procedures to follow during CDT installation. Before you begin wiring:
Q Ensure that all system interconnection and wiring diagrams required for your system are
provided.
Q AlI backboxes (cabinets) and the associated equipment should be properly installed and grounded via a
single, unbroken conductor (12AWG, typical). Conduit ground is not sufficient.
!. Install the CDT’s backbox using the information in the section entitled “Backboxes” in the 2120 Multiplex
System Installation manual. Use the transponder number on the CDT equipment shipping carton to help you
find the cabinet’s proper location.
2. Install the CDT (and other equipment, if applicable) into the backbox.
Data and Power Connections
3. Connect the 2120 communications channel to the CDT. Use the system data interconnect drawing and the
appropriate CDT cabinet drawing to determine proper connections.
4. (lf required) Connect power line to the CDT. Use the system power interconnect drawing and the appropriate
CDT cabinet drawing to determine required connections. DO NOT APPLY POWER.
Preliminary Checkout by Simplex TR
5. Leave the MAPNET’” II disconnected from the CDT panel.
6. Enough system connections have now been made for a TR to check out the basic.operation of your 2129
system. It is recommended that you contact your local TR and have him verify that all data, audio/telephone,
and power line connections have been properly made. Then the TR will have you apply power to the system
so that he can verify the operation of the system’s basic components. When the TR has completed his
preliminary checkout, power-down all equipment.
MAPNET’” I! and Addressable Device Installation
7. If the addressable devices on the MAPNET’” II have not yet been installed, do so now using the instructions
provided with each device. (Refer to Appendix 6, if necessary.)
8. Connect the MAPNET’” II iines to the CDT panei using the appropriate CDT cabinet drawing and f&2120-
CDT wiring diagrams.
Final Checkoui by Simpiex TR
9. The entire 2120 system should now be installed. You should again contact your local TR, who will completeiy
check out your system. Once he has completed his checkout he will either notify you of any wiring problems
he encountered, or will let you know that the system is operating properly.
Correction of Wiring Errors Found During Checkout
10. Correct any wiring defects the TR found. If no defects were found, then the instailation phase of your job is
complete. !f there were winng defects, contact the TR after you have corrected the problem(s) and have Km
verify that your system is now operating properly.
