Practical stitches
Set the machine as illustrated.
Turn the switch width dial and stitch length dial to suit the fabric
and application.
Shell stitch (a)
Feather or thorn bridging stitch (b)
Rampart (c)
For decorative edges.
Suitable for edges on sheer, fine and stretch fabrics. The wider
part of the stitch should go just over the folded edge of the
fabric to create the shell effect.
For seams, place mats, tablecloths.
Decorative joining seam for a fagoted effect.
Gathering with cord or shirring elastic.
This stitch can be used for firm, thicker fabrics.
