WINDING BOBBIN

Snap thread into thread guide

First step in winding bobbin: securing thread in guide.

Push bobbin to right

SELECTING A PATTERN

Turn pattern selector dial to select patterns

THREADING MACHINE

Turn off power.

Safety step: ensure power is off before threading.

Raise needle.

Prepare the machine by raising the needle.

Raise presser foot to allow tension module to accept thread.

Lifting presser foot for easier threading of tension module.

Place thread spool and proper spool cap onto spool pin.

Loading the thread spool onto the machine.

Snap thread into thread guide.

Guiding the thread through the initial thread guide.

Pull down 6"~8" of thread.

Ensuring sufficient thread length for the next step.

Wrap thread around and through thread guide.

NEEDLE THREADER

Snap threader up onto bar.

Attaching the needle threader to the machine.

Slide threader as far to left as it will go.

Positioning the threader for needle insertion.

Be sure guide (1) is against left side of needle.

Ensuring proper alignment of the threader guide with the needle.

Bring metal hook of threader forward, through eye of needle.

Passing the threader's hook through the needle eye.

Hook thread into metal hook.

Engaging the thread with the threader's hook.

Draw metal hook and thread backwards.

Pulling the thread through the needle eye.

Slide threader to right to remove.

Detaching the needle threader.

INSERTING WOUND BOBBIN

Open slide plate.

Accessing the bobbin area.

Insert bobbin into bobbin case.

Placing the wound bobbin into its housing.

Guide thread into notch (1) and then into notch (2).

Directing the bobbin thread through the bobbin case notches.

Pull thread under and back of presser foot.

Positioning the bobbin thread correctly.

Close slide plate.

Securing the bobbin area.

RAISING BOBBIN THREAD

Hold needle thread.

Holding the upper thread to assist bobbin thread retrieval.

Turn hand wheel towards you lowering, then raising needle.

Using the handwheel to bring the needle down and up.

Gently pull needle thread to raise bobbin thread.

Retrieving the bobbin thread loop.

Open loop.

Opening the loop of bobbin thread so it can be pulled through.

Pull both threads back under presser foot.

Positioning both threads correctly for sewing.

SELECTING A PATTERN

Turn pattern selector dial to select patterns.

STRAIGHT STITCH

Preparation: refer to 'Recommended settings and applications' on page 14.

Place fabric under presser foot and lower foot.

KEEPING SEAMS STRAIGHT

Line up fabric with guideline (1) on needle plate.

TURNING SQUARE CORNER

When stitching reaches desired pivot point, stop stitching.

Stopping at the corner point for turning.

Lower needle into fabric.

Leaving the needle in the fabric as a pivot.

Turn fabric.

Rotating the fabric to create the corner.

Continue stitching seam.

Resuming sewing after turning the corner.

STITCHING IN REVERSE

Secure beginning and end of seam as shown.

To attach seam guide, place screw of guide into hole (1).

REPLACING PRESSER FOOT WITH SHANK

Loosen presser foot screw and remove foot.

ATTACHING FEED COVER

Press tab (1) and (2) into holes on needle plate.

CHANGING NEEDLE

Important: For best sewing results, use only Genuine Singer needles.

Recommendation to use genuine Singer needles for optimal performance.

Loosen screw and remove needle.

Procedure to remove the old needle.
