Function Description:

The Singer ME457 is a versatile sewing machine capable of performing a variety of stitches, including utility and decorative stitches, as well as specialized functions like buttonholes and zipper insertion. It is designed to handle different types of fabrics and sewing projects, from garment construction to home decor and quilting. The machine operates by forming stitches using an upper thread and a bobbin thread, guided by a needle and feed teeth.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Foot Control: The machine must be used with a foot control of type FC-2902D (220-240 area) / 4C-326G (230~ area) manufactured by Wakaho Electric Ind. Co., Ltd. (Vietnam).
  • Bobbins: It uses SINGER® Class 15 transparent bobbins.
  • Needles: The machine uses standard sewing machine needles.
  • Power Supply: Designed to comply with IEC/EN 60335-2-28 and UL1594.
  • Insulation: Provided with double insulation, requiring identical replacement parts for servicing.
  • LED Lamp: If damaged, the LED lamp must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or a similarly qualified person.
  • Foot Control Power Cord: The power cord of the foot control cannot be replaced; if damaged, the foot control must be disposed of.

Sewing Operations:

  • Selecting a Stitch: Use the Stitch Selector Dial for grey, blue, or red stitch patterns.
  • Adjusting Stitch Width and Length: Use the Stitch Width Dial and Stitch Length Dial.
  • Three Needle Position: Adjust the needle position as desired.
  • Reverse Sewing: Engage the Reverse Sewing Lever to secure stitches.
  • Specific Stitches: Instructions are provided for Straight Stitch, Straight Stretch Stitch, Multi-Step Zigzag Stitch, Slant Overedge Stitch, Closed Overlock Stitch, Blind Hems, Darning and Mending (repairing large holes and tears), One-Step Buttonhole, and Sew Zippers.
