The SINGER SGR-17200-CRMG is a refill system ironing steam generator designed for domestic use, offering both steam and dry ironing capabilities. It generates high-temperature steam, requiring careful handling during operation.
Function Description:
The appliance features a high-technology low-pressure steam chamber that heats up quickly. Water is converted into steam vapor within this chamber and then transported to the iron unit via a supply cord. This system allows for efficient steam ironing, including vertical steaming for delicate garments. The refill system ensures continuous operation by allowing the water tank to be refilled while the appliance is in use, eliminating the need to wait for it to cool down. An anti-calcium cartridge purifies the water, removing permanent and temporary hardness to prolong the appliance's lifespan.
Important Technical Specifications:
The device operates on mains voltage, which should correspond to the local electricity supply. It includes a power switch (ON/OFF) on the base unit and a temperature dial on the iron unit for adjusting heat settings. A pilot light indicates when the desired temperature is reached. The anti-cal cartridge contains mix-bedded anti-scale resins. The replacement interval for this cartridge depends on water hardness and usage: 6 months for soft water, 3 months for medium water, and 1 month for hard water, based on an average ironing time of two hours per week. The power and supply cords must be unwound and straightened before use.
Usage Features:
First Time Ironing:
- Remove any protective films or stickers from the soleplate and cabinet.
- Unwind and straighten the power and supply cords.
- Fill the water tank with tap water (refer to "How to Fill Water").
- Connect the appliance to a suitable mains supply outlet.
- Switch on the power.
- Turn the temperature dial on the iron unit clockwise to the "Maximum" position; the pilot light will glow.
- The pilot light will turn off once the required temperature is reached.
- The appliance is ready for use.
- Press and hold the steam button for 1 minute to clean the steam generating system.
- Begin first-time ironing with an old towel.
Note: It takes about one minute to reach the required temperature. Before first use, immerse the anti-scale cartridge in a bowl of water for about 5 minutes before inserting it into the water tank.
Steam Ironing:
- Unwind and straighten the power and supply cords.
- Fill the water tank with tap water.
- Connect the appliance to a suitable mains supply outlet.

- The pilot light will glow until the required temperature is reached, then turn off.
- The appliance is ready for use.
- Press the steam button for steam ironing.
Note: A slight vibration from the electrical pump is normal during the first few seconds of steam ironing as water is pumped into the heating chamber. If this persists for over 30 seconds, check the water tank and filter assembly. The noise will continue each time the steam button is pressed, but it will be less noisy after the initial use.
Vertical Steaming:
This function removes wrinkles from delicate hanging garments (e.g., curtains).
Note: Do not apply steam to clothes or fabrics being worn by humans or pets due to high steam temperature. Maintain a distance of a few centimeters from delicate fabrics (synthetics, silk, velvet, etc.) to prevent damage.
Dry Ironing:
- Unwind and straighten the power and supply cords.
- Connect the appliance to a suitable mains supply outlet.
- Switch on the power.
