Do you have a question about the SIP SILVERCUT 270 RC and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive manual for the SIP SILVERCUT 270 RC rotary disc mower, providing essential information for its safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair. The manual is available in multiple languages, including Slovenian, Croatian, German, Italian, French, Dutch, and English.

Function Description:

The SIP SILVERCUT 270 RC is a rotary disc mower designed for agricultural use, specifically for cutting grass and other forage. It is equipped with a conditioner, which processes the cut material to accelerate drying. The machine is designed to be attached to a tractor via a three-point hitch and driven by a power take-off (PTO) shaft. Its primary function is to efficiently cut and condition forage, preparing it for subsequent harvesting operations. The mower incorporates safety features to protect both the operator and the machine during use.

Usage Features:

The SILVERCUT 270 RC offers several features to optimize its use:

  • Three-point hitch attachment: The mower is designed for attachment to Category II and III three-point hydraulic hitches. Proper attachment involves ensuring the correct angle between the tractor's arms and the top link (greater than 3 degrees) and fixing the lower hitch bars to prevent side oscillation.
  • Hydraulic connections: The machine requires two connections for a double-acting hydraulic system (for lifting and lowering the cutter bar) and one single-acting connection (for hydraulic discharge/relief). It is crucial to ensure clean and dry quick couplings to prevent damage and poor contact.
  • Transport and working positions: The mower can be easily switched between transport and working positions. In transport, the cutter bar protection is set, and the cutter bar is lifted to a vertical position and mechanically secured. For work, the cutter bar is lowered, and the hydraulic system is set to a "swimming" position to allow ground adaptation.
  • Cutter bar adjustment:
    • Transverse adjustment: The hitch must be parallel to the ground in the transverse direction.
    • Parallel hitch adjustment (cutting height): The hitch should be leaned forward by 2 degrees to achieve a recommended cutting height of 40-70 mm. The support leg is adapted to maintain this inclination when disconnected.
    • Discharge adjustment: The hydraulic discharge system, consisting of a cylinder, accumulator, and manometer, allows for adjusting the cutter bar's ground pressure. This adjustment should be performed from the tractor's seat, ensuring no pressure in the system before disconnecting.
  • Conditioner adjustment: The roller conditioner has a factory-set distance of 3-5 mm between rollers and two springs for tension adjustment. The intensity of conditioning can be adjusted using nuts. The swath width can also be adjusted using two adjustable directing flaps.
  • Blade replacement: The mower features a quick blade replacement system. Blades should be replaced or turned when worn, always replacing both blades on a single disc. Specific left and right blades are used depending on the disc's rotation direction.
  • Safety features: The machine is equipped with a safety clutch that protects it from obstacles by allowing the mower to incline backward and upward. It is crucial not to interfere with the safety clutch settings to maintain warranty validity.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and optimal performance of the SILVERCUT 270 RC:

  • General maintenance: All maintenance, repair, cleaning, and troubleshooting operations must be performed with the PTO shaft disengaged, the engine off, and the ignition key removed. Loose clothing should be avoided.
  • Cleaning: The cutter bar should be cleaned after each mowing. High-pressure cleaners should not be directed at bearings.
  • Fasteners: Nuts and screws should be regularly checked for tightness (approximately every 50 hours) and tightened if necessary.
  • Support: When performing maintenance on a lifted machine, always use appropriate support elements for safety.
  • Lubrication: All lubrication points are marked in the manual, and specific lubrication intervals (e.g., every 50 hours for cardan shafts) should be followed. Oils and greases should be stored properly.
    • Gearbox oil: The manual specifies SAE 90 oil for the angular gearbox, bar gearbox, and mower manger, with initial changes after 50 hours and subsequent changes every 300 hours or 6 years.
  • Protective curtain: The protective curtain should be regularly inspected for damage and replaced if torn or worn to prevent hard objects from being ejected.
  • Blade holders and screws: Blade holders should be replaced if worn to a width of 2 mm. Blades should be replaced if the hole increases to 21 mm, and screws if the sliding surface wears to 1.9 mm.
  • Belt tension: The tension of the conditioner's rotor drive belt should be checked after service or reassembly. New belts should have a tension of 109-114 Hz (8.5 mm deflection at 100 N force), and used belts 95 Hz (8.5 mm deflection at 75 N force).
  • Winter storage: For wintering, the machine should be stored in a dry place, away from mineral fertilizers. It should be thoroughly cleaned, lubricated, and all flexible parts checked for wear. Paint damage should be repaired, and bright surfaces protected against rust.
  • Restart for a new season: Before restarting for a new season, all conservation oils and greases should be wiped off, the machine thoroughly lubricated, tire pressure checked, lubricant levels in gearboxes refilled, all nuts and screws tightened, and all settings verified. The operating and safety instructions should be reread carefully.
