Questions and Answers

Overview

The document describes a central suction unit, specifically the SISTEM-AIR central vacuum system, designed for residential and civil buildings. This system consists of a network of PVC pipes installed within walls and false ceilings, equipped with suction inlets where a hose can be connected. The central suction unit itself is installed in a separate room, such as a storage room, garage, or service room, and is connected to this pipe network.

Function Description:

The primary function of the central suction unit is to remove dust, small solid particles, and dry materials from various rooms in a building. Users activate the system by inserting the suction hose fitting into a suction pipe inlet. For pipe networks without an electric system, remote-controlled starting and stopping functions are available as an option. The system is designed for efficient and thorough cleaning, with the central unit collecting debris in a dust container.

Important Technical Specifications:

The TECNO Line single-phase suction units are divided into two main categories: TECNO Evolution Line (models SA... TE) and TECNO Activa Line (models SA... TA). Both lines, with the same motor power, share construction technology and performance. The TECNO Activa Line units are distinguished by their integrated computers for controlling maintenance cycles and indicating when maintenance is due.

Key technical specifications, as detailed in the manual, include:

  • Suction fitting Ø: 50 mm for all models.
  • IPX Protection degree: 4 for all models.
  • Power Supply: 230 V~, 50/60 Hz.
  • Power (kW): Ranges from 1.1 kW to 2 kW, depending on the model (e.g., SA 050/0TE is 1.4 kW, SA 400 TE is 2 kW).
  • Absorption (Ampere): Ranges from 5 A to 8.7 A.
  • Inlet power supply (Volts dc): 12 V for all models.
  • Max air volume (m³/h): Ranges from 156 m³/h to 195 m³/h.
  • Filtration surface (cm²): Ranges from 3100 cm² to 6700 cm², depending on the model.
  • Dust container capacity (lt): 15 lt or 21 lt, depending on the model.
  • Weight (Kg): Ranges from 8.7 Kg to 20.5 Kg.
  • Dimensions (mm): Various sizes (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) are provided, with height (G) ranging from 650 mm to 915 mm.
  • Max. Noise Level: The noise level of all suction units never exceeds 70 dB (A).

Usage Features:

  • Starting the unit: Pressing the start push-button illuminates a red lamp inside the unit.
  • Using the suction: Fit the appropriate cleaning accessory into the hose, then insert the opposite end of the hose into a suction inlet. The system starts automatically.
  • Stopping the unit: After cleaning, remove the hose from the suction inlet and gently push the cover until it engages. The unit will stop after a few minutes.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Never use the unit inappropriately or allow children near it while operating.
    • Unplug the unit if the power cable is damaged, if it has been exposed to weather/moisture, if it's damaged by impact, or if it requires repair.
    • Always wear protection gloves and a mask during maintenance.
    • Use only SISTEM-AIR original spare parts.
    • Do not use the unit to remove textile materials, large debris, burning coals, or ashes.
    • Do not remove highly explosive or inert materials that could react in the dust container.
    • Do not use in explosion hazard areas or places with extreme temperatures, pressure, or moisture.
    • Ensure the special filter cartridge is correctly assembled.
    • Never block air exhaust pipes or motor cooling inlets.
    • Do not touch suction accessories with any part of the body.
    • Use only one inlet at a time.
    • Switch off the unit if not in use for a short period; disconnect from mains for extended periods.
  • Installation:
    • Must be installed by qualified staff.
    • Should be located in a service room, protected from atmospheric agents, moisture, and temperature changes, away from heat sources.
    • Requires free and well-lit space around the unit for maintenance.
    • The unit must be securely hung on a wall using the provided metal frame and screws, capable of holding eight times its weight. Minimum distances from the floor are specified for different models (e.g., 500 mm for TA/TE 050, 100, 200, 400; 350 mm for Mini, Media, Media Plus).
    • Pipe network connection involves correct fittings for suction and air exhaust pipes, with a silencer on the exhaust pipe near the grid.
    • Electrical connection must be done by qualified staff, ensuring mains power matches unit specifications. It involves connecting the starting signal input cable and, optionally, an auxiliary maintenance signal output cable (12 V - 0.10 A MAX).

Maintenance Features:

  • Programmed Maintenance (TECNO Activa Line): These units have a computer that controls maintenance cycles and indicates when tasks are due, such as unloading the dust bag, checking the suction motor, and cleaning the filter cartridge. An optional remote control system can also warn users or connect to a service provider.
  • Maintenance Schedule (TECNO Evolution Line): For units without a computer, a manual schedule is provided:
    • 4 Hours: Clean the filter cartridge (User).
    • 6 Hours: Unload the dust container (User).
    • 32 Hours: Replace the filter cartridge (User).
    • 54 Hours: Control the obstruction level of the air exhaust (Technical Service).
    • 400 Hours: Replace the electric motor carbons (Technical Service).
  • Cleaning the casing: Periodically clean with a smooth, damp cloth and neutral soap. Avoid alcohol or other solvents. Ensure the unit is perfectly dry before use.
  • Unloading the dust container: Involves disassembling the dust container, removing the conveyor cone, emptying the dust, reassembling the cone, and reattaching the container. For TECNO Activa units, press the "RESET" key after restarting.
  • Replacing the filter cartridge: Disassemble the dust container, unscrew the locking handle, replace the old cartridge with a new one, screw the handle back, and reassemble the dust container. For TECNO Activa units, press the "RESET" key after restarting.
  • Reconditioning the filter cartridge: The cartridge can be reconditioned multiple times by cleaning its filtering surface with the corner nozzle of the suction unit. Always check for tears; if torn, do not recondition or reuse. A new cartridge must be assembled before reconditioning.
  • Computer Programming (TECNO Activa Line):
    • General Information: The computer warns about scheduled cleaning or motor malfunctions. Parameters can be modified to optimize standard pre-set values (e.g., adjusting warning signals for filter cleaning from 4 hours to 2 or 6 hours).
    • Personalization of Maintenance Parameters: This procedure allows setting new personalized maintenance parameters for the first time. It involves entering a PIN code (up to 6 figures) and then selecting the desired operating hours for filter cleaning, dust container unloading, and motor maintenance alarms.
    • Displaying Personalized Maintenance Parameters: A procedure is outlined to view the programmed PIN code and the set hours for filter cleaning, dust container unloading, and motor maintenance without altering them.
    • Modifying Personalized Maintenance Parameters: This procedure allows changing previously inserted data. It involves a similar sequence of button presses and value adjustments as personalization, confirming changes for each parameter.
  • Troubleshooting: A table provides common problems, possible causes, and corrective measures, such as checking power supply, start button, signal cables, thermal relay, microswitches, hose integrity, filter cartridge condition, dust container fitting, and pipe obstructions.
  • Servicing: Only qualified technical assistance personnel are authorized to perform maintenance or repair operations not explicitly mentioned in the manual. Unauthorized interventions void the warranty and absolve the manufacturer of responsibility for damages.
  • Dismantling: When dismantling, used parts and materials must be disposed of appropriately, in compliance with legal regulations, through authorized sites/companies.
