If the measurement obtained for one or several injectors
is not within the specification:
– Replace the faulty injector.
When testing the injection rate also check the jet forma-
tion. The jet must be the same for all valves.
The injectors are installed in the reverse order.
Pay attention to the following:
ƒ Replace the O-rings and all the injectors and moisten
lightly with clean engine oil.
ƒ Insert injectors vertically and into the correct position
in the fuel rail and secure with retaining clips.
Testing fuel pressure regulator and hold-
ing pressure
The fuel pressure regulator regulates the fuel pressure in
line with the intake manifold pressure.
Special tools, test and measuring equipment and
auxiliary items required
ƒ Pressure gauge appliancee.g. -V.A.G 1318-
ƒ Adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1318/10-
ƒ Adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1318/11-
ƒ Adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1318/16-
Test condition
• Delivery rate of fuel delivery unit o.k., testing µ 2.0 l/
85 kW Engine, Mechanical Components; Rep. Gr. 20
Test sequence
– Pull off the fuel feed line -1- and gather residual fuel in
a cloth.
Note
WARNING!
The fuel system is under pressure! Place a cloth
around the connecting point before releasing hose
connections or when opening the system. Then re-
lease pressure by carefully detaching.
