This document serves as a comprehensive guide for setting up, connecting, and managing your Sky Broadband Hub, model SR203UK. It is designed to help you get your broadband service up and running smoothly, connect your devices, and understand key features for optimal use and security.
The primary function of the Sky Broadband Hub is to provide internet access to your home. It acts as the central point for your broadband connection, allowing multiple devices to connect wirelessly (via Wi-Fi) or through wired Ethernet connections. The hub is designed for ease of use, with a straightforward setup process and clear indicators to help you monitor its status.
Your Sky Broadband Hub will not become active immediately upon receipt. There is a specific activation date, which you will find printed on the packaging box. The hub will start working at any time up to midnight on this date. It's important to wait until this date for your service to begin.
The box contains everything you need to set up your broadband. This includes the Sky Broadband Hub itself, some paperwork (including an important safety and product information leaflet), a grey cable, a power cable, and a microfilter. Before starting, it is crucial to read the 'Important safety and product information' leaflet to ensure safe installation and use.
The Sky Broadband Hub has several key features on its exterior. On the front, you'll find LED status lights that indicate the operational status of the hub, such as power, internet connectivity, and Wi-Fi activity. On the side, there is a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) button and light. This button simplifies connecting compatible devices to your Wi-Fi network without needing to manually enter the password.
The back of the hub provides all the necessary ports for connection. These include a Broadband port for connecting to your phone socket, a Telephone port (if applicable for your service), a Power port for the power cable, and multiple Ethernet ports for wired connections to devices like computers or gaming consoles. There is also a Reset button, which is used for troubleshooting or restoring factory settings.
Crucially, the back of your hub also features a label with your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password. This information is essential for connecting your devices to your wireless network. Keep this information handy during the setup process.
The first step in connecting your hub is to locate your main phone socket. This is typically where the phone line enters your home and is usually thicker than other phone sockets. Before plugging in the hub, you must unplug anything currently connected to this socket, such as existing phone cables, broadband equipment, or splitters.
If your main phone socket has only one port, the setup involves a microfilter.
If your main phone socket has two ports, you do not need to use the microfilter.
Once your Sky Broadband Hub is set up and the lights are green, you can connect your devices. This includes computers, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and even your Sky TV box.
For the best performance, it is recommended to leave your Sky Broadband Hub switched on all the time. It is normal for the hub to feel warm during operation, so there's no need to worry about this.
You can log in to your hub to change settings such as your Wi-Fi name or password.
192.168.0.1 into the address bar.admin. The password is your current Wi-Fi password (unless you have previously changed it).
Be aware that changing your Wi-Fi name or password will disconnect all devices currently connected to your Wi-Fi. You will then need to re-connect them using the new credentials. For more information on managing your Wi-Fi password, visit sky.com/wifipassword.If you encounter issues or need to restore your hub to its factory settings, you can perform a reset.
If you have followed all the setup steps and your hub is still not working, you can seek further assistance.
Your Sky Broadband service includes Sky Broadband Shield, a built-in security feature designed to protect your online experience.
