Overview

This document describes the 800-SS25ST (5301782) 25 Gallon Lawn & Garden Spot Sprayer, a device designed for applying solutions in garden and lawn care.

Function Description:

The sprayer is designed to draw solution from its tank, through a strainer, and to a 12-volt diaphragm pump. The pump then forces the solution under pressure to either a handgun or boom nozzles for application. It is primarily used for spot spraying in lawn and garden applications. The pump is equipped with a pressure switch that automatically shuts off when all discharges are closed and reactivates when the handgun lever is squeezed or the nozzle tip is adjusted.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Tank: 25 Gallon Corrosion-Resistant Polyethylene Tank
  • Pump: 12 Volt Diaphragm Pump, 2.4 GPM (Gallons Per Minute) - 60 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch)
  • Handgun: Lever Handgun
  • Hose: 15 Ft. Handgun Hose (3/8" I.D.)
  • Throw Distance: 15 Ft. max. vertical throw, 30 Ft. horizontal throw
  • Fuse: 15 Amp Regular Blade Fuse (for the lead wire assembly) and a 10 Amp 'Mini Blade' Fuse (for the pump).
  • Power Source: Requires a fully charged 12 Volt battery (either stand-alone or from a towing vehicle).

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The sprayer comes mostly pre-assembled from the factory. The user only needs to attach the wand clips and connect the battery leads to a 12-volt battery.
  • Initial Setup: Before first use, it's crucial to remove the tank lid, ensure the tank is clean and free of foreign material, and rinse out any tank residue.
  • Testing: Always test the sprayer with plain water first to check for leaks and proper spray patterns. This familiarizes the user with operation without wasting chemicals.
  • Operation: Connect the lead wire to a fully charged 12-volt battery (positive to red, negative to black). The lead wire has an On/Off switch ("-" for on, "O" for off) to activate the pump. Fill the tank with water and the desired chemical, then finish filling to the proper level.
  • Nozzle Adjustment: The handgun features an adjustable nozzle tip that can change the spray pattern from a straight stream to a cone pattern (fine mist).
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Read and understand the operator's manual before use.
    • Always read chemical labels before application.
    • Do not spray on windy days.
    • Wear protective clothing when necessary.
    • Do not use the pump in an explosive environment or to pump flammable/combustible fluids like gasoline, kerosene, fuel, or oil.
    • Flush the pump immediately after each use to prevent chemicals from damaging pump valves. Do not allow chemicals to sit in the pump for extended periods.
    • Do not use bleach or petroleum products.
    • Do not use dirty or unfiltered water.
    • The pressure switch is pre-set at the factory; improper adjustment can cause severe overload or premature failure.

Maintenance Features:

  • Strainer Cleaning: Periodically check and clean the screen on the intake line.
  • Post-Use Cleaning: After each use, drain the tank and dispose of chemicals properly. Fill the sprayer halfway with clean water, run the pump to flush the system, drain, then refill halfway with a tank cleaner (or dish soap). Circulate for 15 minutes, then spray out through the handgun. Repeat with clean water. Follow chemical manufacturer's disposal instructions for all waste water.
  • Handgun Nozzle Cleaning: If the handgun nozzle needs cleaning, remove it, soak it in warm soapy water, and clean with a soft-bristled brush or toothpick. Avoid metal objects to prevent damage to the flow rate and spray distribution. Rinse and dry before storing.
  • Check Valve Cleaning: If the pump is not priming or has low pressure, and other troubleshooting steps have been taken, the check valve may need cleaning. This involves removing the pump head, cleaning the check valve under hot, soapy water with a soft brush, soaking it, and then reassembling.
  • Filter/Screen Cleaning: The sprayer has a filter/screen located in the knurled nut of the shut-off valve on the intake line. To clean, shut off the pump, close the shut-off valve, unscrew the knurled nut, swivel the intake assembly, remove and clean the screen/washer, then reassemble and open the valve.
  • Winter Storage: Prepare the sprayer for storage by running RV antifreeze through the system. This lubricates internal parts, protects against corrosion, and prevents freezing. Ensure the antifreeze is pumped through the entire plumbing system, including the handgun, until pink fluid sprays from the nozzle. Leave any remaining antifreeze in the tank. Rinse the antifreeze from the sprayer with clean water before next use.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the pump not running, low pressure/flow, pump surging, pump continuously running, and fuse blowing. It covers checks for wiring, switches, fuses, voltage, strainers, check valves, and pressure switch adjustments.

Warranty:

  • Sprayer: One (1) year for homeowner usage, 90 days for commercial usage.
  • Pump: Two (2) years for homeowner usage, 90 days for commercial usage.
  • Coverage: Covers defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchase with a copy of the receipt.
  • Exclusions: Does not cover used equipment, altered equipment, normal wear and tear, damage from improper use/maintenance, acts of God, or non-Fimco manufactured parts/accessories.
  • Service: To obtain warranty service, provide written notice to Fimco, Ind. within the warranty period and 30 days of defect discovery, and make the equipment available.
