Application
The Snap-on CTG861 is a rugged infrared thermometer
used to measure surface temperaures without making
contact.
Measuring Temperature:
1. Turn the thermometer on by squeezing the trigger.
2. Line up the target between the two laser points (if laser
is turned on) and hold the front of the thermometer a
minimum of twelve inches from the target (sample
size will be one inch at this distance).
3. Read the temperature on the LCD.
Recall Last Reading
Quickly press and release the trigger after the unit has
powered off to recall the last reading.
Turning the Laser and Backlight ON/
OFF:

1. Squeeze and hold the trigger on the instrument.
2. Press and hold the E button until the laser icon and / or
backlight icon is either on the LCD or not on the LCD
(when the icon is on the LCD, the laser and / or
backlight is activated). Each time the E button is
pressed the mode will change.
3. Available modes are:
— Laser and Backlight Off = No icon in the display.
— Laser On = icon in the display.
— Backlight On = icon in the display
— Laser and Backlight On = icons in the display.
Changing from °F TO °C or °C TO °F
1. Squeeze the trigger on the instrument and hold it in or
release it.
2. Push the °C/°F push button to select the desired
measurement unit as indicated on the LCD.
Recording Minimum and Maximum
Temperatures
1. Squeeze the trigger on the instrument and hold it in or
release it.
2. Push the REC button to activate the Record function.
You will see REC on the LCD.
3. Press and release the Trigger.
4. SCAN will flash as the CTG861 records Min and Max
readings for the measurement period.
5. Press and release the Trigger. SCAN will disappear
from the LCD and HOLD will appear.
6. Push the REC button to toggle between the recorded
Max and Min temperatures during the measurement
period.
