Overview

The Solamagic External Dim Box WSI and Connection Module S1/S3 WSI are expansion components designed to enhance the functionality of Solamagic radiant heaters. These devices allow for precise control over the heating output and offer various operational features, including remote control and an optional 1-10V interface.

Function Description:

The External Dim Box WSI (IR 05070 WSI) acts as a dimming unit for Solamagic radiant heaters, enabling the adjustment of heating output. It can be connected to radiant heaters up to 3000W. The Connection Module S1/S3 WSI (IR 05070 WSI) serves as an add-on component for the basic radiant heater S1/S3, integrating it into a complete Solamagic S1/S3 system. It supports radiant heaters up to 2500W.

Both devices facilitate remote control of the radiant heater's functions. The Solamagic FUS 6 wireless remote control is essential for operation, allowing users to switch the heater on/off, activate short-term heating, adjust heating levels (33%, 66%, and 100%), and utilize a memory function that recalls the last heating level. An optional 1-10V interface is available, which, when activated, disables the wireless remote control function and allows for control via a 1-10V signal. This interface is particularly useful for integrating the heater into building management systems.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Device Type: External Dim Box WSI (IR 05070 WSI) and Connection Module S1/S3 WSI (IR 05070 WSI).
  • Connectable Heating Power:
    • External Dim Box WSI: Up to 3000 W.
    • Connection Module S1/S3 WSI: Up to 2500 W.
  • Power Connection: 230V 50/60Hz.
  • Protection Class: SK I (for both).
  • Protection Type: IP44 (for both), suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Fusing: B16A (for both).
  • Weight:
    • External Dim Box WSI: 1.1 kg.
    • Connection Module S1/S3 WSI: 1.2 kg.
  • Dimensions (External Dim Box WSI): Approximately 200 mm (height) x 115 mm (width) x 99 mm (depth).
  • Wireless Remote Control (FUS 6):
    • Transmission Frequency: 433.92 MHz.
    • Battery: CR 2032, 3 Volt.
    • Range: Approx. 20 m in open air.
  • 1-10V Interface: Controls heating output in three levels (33%, 66%, 100%).

Usage Features:

  • On/Off Switching: A short press of the programmed wireless channel button on the hand-held transmitter switches the radiant heater on or off.
  • Short-term Heating: A double-click on the programmed wireless channel button activates the radiant heater for 15 minutes, after which it automatically switches off.
  • Heating Level Adjustment: A long press of the programmed button on the hand-held transmitter cycles through three heating levels: 33%, 66%, and 100%.
  • Memory Function: When switched back on with a short button press, the device recalls the last set heating level.
  • Timed Switch-off: If activated during programming, the radiant heater will automatically switch off after a specified residual run time. The heater signals the set residual run time by illuminating for 2, 4, or 6 seconds, corresponding to 30, 60, or 90 minutes, respectively.
  • Synchronization: For multiple radiant heaters controlled by the same hand-held transmitter button, a synchronization function ensures all heaters operate in unison. This involves setting all heaters to the "on" state using the heating level function, then switching all off with a short press, and finally setting all to the desired level simultaneously.
  • Programming: The programming process involves connecting the heater to the mains, briefly pressing the desired channel button on the hand-held transmitter (heater starts at low level), and confirming with another press (heater goes to full level). Time-out switching can be programmed with double-clicks. Long pressing the button completes the programming. Multiple heaters can be programmed to up to eight buttons on one or more hand-held transmitters (multi-control).
  • Reprogramming: Individual or all programmed receivers can be deleted (reset) from the hand-held transmitter. This is useful if a transmitter is lost or defective.
  • Safety Switch-off: The radiant heater remains switched off after a power outage.
  • 1-10V Control: When the 1-10V interface is active, the heater's output can be controlled by an external 1-10V signal, overriding the wireless remote control. The brown core of the two-core cable for the 1-10V interface is positive, and the blue is negative.

Maintenance Features:

  • Installation: Electrical connection must be performed by a qualified electrician according to DIN VDE 0100 installation instructions.
  • Safety Precautions: Always disconnect the power supply (pull out the plug, switch off the circuit breaker) before any work on the electrical circuit. Devices must only be switched on after all cable connections are fully established.
  • Battery Change (Hand-held Transmitter): Open the housing cover, push the battery out sideways from the clamped position, and insert a new CR 2032 battery (plus side up). Do not touch the battery directly with the skin.
  • Repairs: In case of damage to Solamagic components (e.g., supply cable, power pack), switch off the device immediately. Repair and maintenance work may only be performed by the manufacturer or a comparable trained person.
  • Warranty Conditions: A 2-year warranty applies from the date of delivery for material and manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover damages caused by improper use, environmental conditions, or non-compliance with operating instructions. Specific conditions apply for heaters purchased in a country of the European Union from 01/01/2016.
