Overview

The ORS-2000 Series Irrigation Solution Warming System is a device designed to provide controlled warming for irrigation solutions. It is explicitly stated that this system is not intended as a blood warmer. The manual covers various models within the ORS-2000 Series, including ORS-2038, ORS-2057, ORS-2058, ORS-2066, ORS-2075, and ORS-2094, with any reference to a model encompassing all its versions (e.g., ORS-2066 includes ORS-2066D and ORS-2066R).

Function Description:

The primary function of the ORS-2000 Series is to warm irrigation solutions to a desired temperature. This is achieved through a microprocessor-based temperature controller that allows users to set and monitor the solution's temperature. The system requires the use of O.R. Solutions, Inc. warmer drapes, which are integral to its optimal performance and safety.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power: The device operates on 115 VAC; 2A 50-60 Hz, with a 230 VAC option available.
  • Fuse: It uses a 2X; 3A Slo-Blo type fuse.
  • Normal Temperature Range: The system can warm solutions from room temperature up to 120° F (49°C).
  • Temperature Variance: The temperature control maintains a variance of +/-2° F (1°C).
  • Temperature Control: A microprocessor temperature controller with an LED readout displays both the present temperature (PV - Present value) and the set point temperature (SV - Set value).
  • Capacity and Bowl Dimensions (Model Specific):
    • ORS-2038: 3.8 Liters capacity, 11½" x 5¾" x 4" bowl dimensions.
    • ORS-2057: 5.7 Liters capacity, 19⅝" x 5¼" x 4" bowl dimensions.
    • ORS-2058: 5.8 Liters capacity, 11½" x 5¾" x 6" bowl dimensions.
    • ORS-2066: 6.6 Liters capacity, 11½" x 9¼" x 4" bowl dimensions.
    • ORS-2075: 7.5 Liters capacity, 14½"(O.D.) x 4¾" bowl dimensions (Round Basin).
    • ORS-2094: 9.4 Liters capacity, 11½" x 9¼" x 6" bowl dimensions.
  • Grounding: Grounding reliability is achieved only when connected to an equivalent receptacle marked "HOSPITAL ONLY" or "HOSPITAL GRADE."

Usage Features:

  • Draping: The device must be draped with an O.R. Solutions, Inc. warmer drape. The power switch must be OFF before draping. The drape should be adjusted to ensure uniform contact with the basin walls, avoiding air pockets or folds.
  • Fluid Requirements: A minimum fluid level is required for operation.
    • ORS-2038 and ORS-2058: Minimum 500 mL solution in the ORS approved drape.
    • ORS-2057, ORS-2066, and ORS-2094: Minimum 750 mL solution in the ORS approved drape.
    • ORS-2075: Minimum 1500 mL solution in the ORS approved drape.
    • CAUTION: The warming machine must not be operated without the specified minimum solution in the drape. Power must be off until the minimum fluid level is poured into the drape.
  • Power On/Off: The machine is turned on and off by depressing the POWER switch. It is crucial not to turn off the machine by pulling the power cord from the outlet.
  • Temperature Selection:
    1. Press "index."
    2. Adjust the set temperature using the up/down arrows.
    3. Press "enter."
    4. Press "index" again.
  • Indicators:
    • "Power" light: Indicates the unit is on.
    • "PV" (Present Value): Upper indicator showing the present temperature of the solution.
    • "SV" (Set Value): Lower indicator showing the target temperature for the solution.
    • "AL" light: Illuminates when the Present Value is 4°F greater than the Set Value.
    • "°F" indicator: Shows that temperature readouts are in Fahrenheit (Centigrade readout available upon request).
    • "SP1" light: Indicates that the heating element is active.
    • "SP2": Not applicable.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • DANGER: Risk of explosion if used in the presence of flammable anesthetics.
    • CAUTION: Electric shock hazard. Do not remove the protective panel. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
    • WARNING: Risk of fire. Replace fuse as marked: 250V 3A TIME DELAY.
  • Disposal: Discard solution and drape per hospital guidelines after use.
  • Mounting: Instructions are provided for assembling the ORS-2000 Series Solution Warmer with ORS-S21 or ORS-S22 Stands, using 1/4-20 X 1/2" Machine Screws. There are also instructions for mounting the ORS-2038 Solution Warmer to an ORS-1075HS Slush Machine.

Maintenance Features:

  • After Each Use:
    • Clean the Solution Warmer with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
    • Pay particular attention to the stainless steel basin; alcohol helps dry it to prevent corrosion.
  • Monthly:
    • Scrub the Solution Warmer basin with a non-abrasive cleanser (e.g., Soft Scrub™) to prevent corrosion build-up.
  • Regular Inspection:
    • Inspect the power cord and plug for any unusual signs of wear or abuse. If wear or abuse is noted, contact ORS for repair.
  • Temperature Controller Verification (Every 5 Years):
    • O.R. Solutions, Inc. requires verification using specific equipment (or equivalent fluid temperature measuring system with no greater manufacturer's variance than +/- 2º F):
      • Fluke 5111 Digital Thermometer.
      • 6" Long 0.093” Diameter Type T Needle Thermocouple (calibrated to the thermometer).
    • Verification Procedure:
      1. Fill the basin 2/3 full of water.
      2. Turn the warmer on and adjust the set point (“SV”) to 105º F.
      3. Ten (10) minutes after the “PV” temperature equals 105º F on the controller, insert the Thermocouple so its tip is 1” below the water surface in the middle of the warmer.
      4. If the actual temperature on the CALIBRATED thermometer is equal to or greater than 103º F but less than or equal to 107º F, the warmer is within specification.
      5. If the warmer is not within this temperature range, contact O.R. Solutions, Inc. at 800-343-6771.

Troubleshooting:

  • Corrosion in basin: Scrub with a non-abrasive cleanser.
  • Power switch does not light up: Check if plugged in and outlet is active. Inspect power cord/plug. If issue persists, contact ORS.
  • Solution Warmer does not heat up: Check if LED display light is on. Verify temperature adjustment (see page 3). If issues persist, contact ORS.
  • Solution temperature does not reach set point: Verify temperature adjustment. Inspect drape for even distribution and full contact with basin walls, avoiding folds or air pockets. If issues persist, contact ORS.
  • Solution temperature has unusual fluctuation readings: Ensure drape is evenly distributed and in full contact. If issues persist, contact ORS.
  • Small amount of water left in basin after use: Normal due to condensation. Dry with lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
  • General Warning: If the Solution Warmer does not operate properly, contact O.R. Solutions, Inc. at (800) 343-6771.
