Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the player.

Disc Handling:

  • Cleaning Discs: Handle discs by their edge to avoid fingerprints and scratches. Clean discs with a soft cloth, wiping from the center outwards. Do not use solvents, commercially available disc/lens cleaners, or anti-static sprays.
  • Storage: Store discs in their cases after playing to protect them from direct sunlight, heat sources, and dust.
  • Avoid Damaging Discs: Do not use discs with non-standard shapes, labels, stickers, cellophane tape, or sticker adhesive. Do not resurface the playing side of a disc.

Player Care:

  • Placement: Place the player in a location with adequate ventilation, away from heat sources, direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical shock. Avoid soft surfaces or confined spaces that might block ventilation holes. The player should be operated in a horizontal position.
  • Moisture Condensation: If the player is moved from a cold to a warm location or placed in a damp room, moisture may condense on the lenses. In such cases, remove the disc and leave the player turned on for about half an hour until the moisture evaporates.
  • Cleaning the Cabinet: Clean the cabinet, panel, and controls with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive pads, scouring powder, or solvents like alcohol or benzine.
  • Moving the Player: Disconnect the AC power cord and all other cables, and remove any discs from the tray before moving the player.
  • Power Sources: Disconnect the player from the wall outlet if not in use for a long time. Always grasp the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting. Avoid pinching or damaging the AC power cord.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues related to picture, sound, disc playback, USB device detection, network connection, and HDMI control (BRAVIA Sync). It advises users to check connections, settings, and perform simple resets before seeking professional repair.
  • Software Updates: Regularly performing network updates (recommended every 2 months) helps maintain the player's software, addressing potential bugs and improving performance.
