Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not open the casing to avoid electric shock. Servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel.
    • Avoid prolonged use of the system and wireless controller; take 15-minute breaks every hour.
    • Do not use the system in enclosed spaces where heat can build up. Ensure good ventilation (at least 10 cm from walls, not on carpets, not covered with cloth).
    • If the system overheats (power indicator flashes red and green), turn it off, let it cool, and move it to a well-ventilated area.
    • Regularly inspect the AC power cord for damage. Unplug immediately if the device malfunctions, makes unusual sounds, smells, or becomes too hot.
    • Do not handle damaged or leaking Lithium-Ion batteries. If contact occurs, flush eyes with water and seek medical attention, or rinse skin/clothes with water.
    • Keep the system and accessories out of reach of small children.
    • Do not touch the lens inside the disc cover or surrounding parts to prevent dust or damage. Keep the disc cover closed when not inserting/removing discs.
    • Do not move or change the system's position while the power indicator is solid or flashing green, as this may cause data loss or damage.
    • Avoid exposing the system to dust, smoke, steam, high temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight.
    • Do not place the system on unstable, tilted, or vibrating surfaces.
    • Do not block any vents.
  • Moisture Condensation: If the system or disc is moved from a cold to a warm environment, moisture may condense. Remove the disc, turn off, and unplug the system until the moisture evaporates (may take several hours).
  • Battery Maintenance (Wireless Controller): The battery has a limited lifespan. To maintain functionality, fully charge the controller at least once a year if not used for an extended period.
  • End of Life Product Recycling: The PS3 system and DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller (containing a lithium-ion battery) are recyclable. Users are advised to follow local regulations for disposal and can visit sony.com/ecotrade or eco.sony.ca for recycling locations in the United States and Canada.
