The Sony HDCU2080 is a high-definition camera control unit designed for use with Sony HD-series video cameras. The unit is also compatible with the HDC1580 camera.

- Safety-Oriented Power Supply: Designed with safety in mind, it initially supplies low voltage upon power-on. Full 240 V AC power is activated only after verifying an appropriate camera connection. - Wide Range of Audio Functions: Features connectors for two-channel analog audio outputs, a digital audio output, and a program audio input. It supports a two-channel intercom system with four-wire and RTS/Clear-Com compatibility.

Usage Features
The HDCU2080's operation is primarily managed through its front panel controls, including a DISP/MENU lever, CANCEL/ENTER lever, and CONTROL knob.
- Status Display: The unit allows monitoring of camera and CCU system status, hardware diagnostics, network diagnostics, and ROM version information via a connected picture monitor. The CONTROL knob navigates through different status pages.
- Setup Menu: System and peripheral settings can be checked and modified using a picture monitor. The DISP/MENU lever activates the menu display. The CONTROL knob is used to navigate menu items, change settings, and confirm selections. Character string inputs are supported for specific menu items.
- Intercom System: The front panel includes an INTERCOM audio input/output and control block with MIC/PGM and INTERCOM select switches, and an INTERCOM adjustment knob. It supports producer and engineer lines, as well as a private mode for communication between the CCU and camera.
- Tally Indicators: Red, yellow, and green tally indicators provide visual feedback on camera status and call signals.
- CCU Number Display: Shows the camera number set via the CCU menu.
