Maximizing Battery Life
By adjusting the settings or managing the power supply properly, it is possible
to save the battery power and use the player for a longer time.
Turn o the player manually
If you press and hold the OPTION/PWR OFF button, the player enters the
stand-by mode and the screen turns off to save battery power. Furthermore, if
the stand-by mode continues for more than about a day, the player turns
completely off automatically.
Set the screen
A “Display Time” setting of “15 sec” (
page 84), a “New Song Pop Up
setting of “Off” (
page 33), and a “Screensaver” setting of “None” (
page
85), offer longer battery life than other settings.
Adjust the brightness of the screen
Setting “Brightness” to the lowest setting reduces battery use while the display
is on (
page 86).
Set the sound quality o
When settings for sound quality and volume, such as “Clear Stereo” (
page
57), “DSEE (Sound Enhance)” (
page 58) and “Dynamic Normalizer” (
page 60) are set to “Off,” “Equalizer” (
page 52) and “VPT (Surround)” (
page 55) are set to “None,” and longer battery life can be expected.
Turn o the screen when the player is on hold during the playback of videos
If you set “On-Hold Display” to “No” (
page 70), the battery life will last
longer.
Note when connected to your compute
If the computer enters a power saving mode, such as the sleep or hibernation
mode, while the player is connected via the USB cable, the players battery is
not charged. Instead, the player continues to draw power from the battery,
discharging it.
