What to do if the motor does not run to close the Southern States Circuit Switcher?
    • J
      Jennifer GuerraAug 8, 2025
If the motor doesn't run when closing the circuit switcher, it could be due to several reasons. First, the latch check switch might be sensing a discharged shunt trip unit; in this case, hand crank close about five turns while observing the red band indicators on the shunt trip housing. Second, there might be insufficient shunt trip gap in the full open position; adjust the charging bolt to provide the required gap. Finally, the trigger and/or main trip latch in the shunt trip could be sticking; clean and lubricate to ensure the latches reset properly.

    • Y
      Yolanda JohnsonAug 13, 2025
If an outside pole does not close, it could be due to insufficient shunt trip gap in the open position. Adjust the gap using the shunt trip charging bolt.
