How to fix a Southern States Lawn Mower that will not start?

If your Southern States Lawn Mower won't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the fuel tank is full. If that's not the issue, consult the “TO START ENGINE” section in the Operation section to ensure the engine is properly choked. If the engine is flooded, wait a few minutes before trying again. Other potential causes include a bad spark plug (replace it), a dirty air filter (clean or replace it), a dirty fuel filter (replace it), or water in the fuel (empty the tank and carburetor, refill with fresh gasoline, and replace the fuel filter). Also, check for loose or damaged wiring. For carburetor adjustments, see “To Adjust Carburetor” in the Service and Adjustments section. If the engine valves are out of adjustment, contact an authorized service center/department.
