Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Sparco Kids CHILD CAR SEAT SK60001, an i-Size Enhanced Child Restraint System (ECRS) designed for children with a stature ranging from 40 cm to 135 cm. The manual provides comprehensive guidance on the product's overview, safety warnings, usage, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Sparco Kids SK60001 is a versatile child car seat that adapts to different child statures and ages, offering both rearward-facing and forward-facing installation options. For children with a stature of 40-105 cm (approximately 0-4 years old, weighing 0-18 kg), the seat is used in a rearward-facing position, secured with ISOFIX and a support leg. For children with a stature of 83-105 cm (approximately 9 months-4 years old, weighing 9-18 kg), it can be used in a forward-facing position with a 5-point safety system, secured with ISOFIX and a support leg. For children with a stature of 105-135 cm (approximately 3-12 years old, weighing 15-36 kg), it functions as an i-Size booster seat, used in a forward-facing position. In this configuration, the child restraint system is secured using the adult three-point belt, or a combination of ISOFIX and the adult three-point belt. The internal harness system (shoulder pads, shoulder straps, crotch pad, and buckle) are hidden or removed for this stature range.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Stature Range: 40-135 cm
  • Approval: UN Regulation No.129 (i-Size ECRS)
  • Dimensions:
    • Distance from front to back of the seat: 565 mm
    • Distance from left to right of the seat: 443 mm
    • Height of the seat: 620 mm
  • Weight: 11 ± 0.5 kg
  • Headrest: Adjustable with 7 gears to accommodate the child's height.
  • Reclining System: Offers 4 different reclining positions for children with stature 83-105 cm (forward-facing), and 1 upright position for children with stature 105-135 cm (forward-facing).
  • ISOFIX Attachments: Adjustable for multiple positions and feature a locking indication (GREEN) to confirm correct installation.
  • Support Leg: Used for 40-105 cm stature, adjustable in length, and stowed for 105-135 cm stature.

Usage Features:

  • Headrest Adjustment (3.2): The headrest can be adjusted up and down by pulling an adjusting ring, with 7 available positions to match the child's height.
  • Shoulder Strap Height (3.3): Shoulder straps must always be threaded through the slots closest to the top of the child's shoulders for correct fit.
  • Buckle Usage (3.4): The 5-point buckle system requires inserting both pieces into the slot until a "click" is heard, indicating it's locked. To release, press the red button.
  • Harness Adjustment (3.5): The harness can be tightened by pulling the front stretch belt after removing slack from the lap sections. To loosen, press the adjuster under the seat cover and pull the harness straps. The harness should be adjusted as tightly as possible without causing discomfort.
  • Removable and Hidden Objects (3.6):
    • For children 60 cm and above (when transitioning to forward-facing or booster mode), the cushion and triangle sponge need to be removed.
    • For children 105-135 cm (booster mode), the shoulder pads, shoulder straps, crotch pad, and buckle need to be hidden. The manual details the method to store shoulder straps with chest pad and buckle (3.7) by opening the buckle, storing shoulder pads and straps on both sides of the seat, tightening the harness adjuster strap, and placing the disassembled buckle into a storage slot under the seat cover.
  • ISOFIX Adjustment (3.8): ISOFIX attachments can be adjusted by pressing a release button. They are inserted into guide sleeves and then into ISOFIX anchorages until a "click" is heard and a GREEN indication is shown. To release, push the red release button.
  • Support Leg Usage (3.9): The support leg is pulled out from the base, positioned at about 90° to the base, and adjusted in length by pressing a lock button until it touches the car floor and turns green. For 105-135 cm stature, the support leg is stowed.
  • Seat Rotation (3.10): The seat can be rotated left and right by pulling out the rotation adjuster with one hand and rotating the seat with the other until a "click" sound indicates it's in place.
    • 40-83 cm: Rearward-facing only.
    • 83-105 cm: Forward-facing or rearward-facing.
    • 105-135 cm: Forward-facing only.
  • Reclining System (3.11): The seat angle can be adjusted by pulling out the angle adjuster. It offers 4 positions for 83-105 cm forward-facing and 1 position for 105-135 cm forward-facing.

Installation (Chapter 4):

  • Rearward-facing (40-105 cm) (4.1): Involves pulling out the support leg and ISOFIX attachments, placing the seat on the car seat, rotating it to the car door's position, placing the child, adjusting shoulder straps, and locking the buckle. Crucially, DO NOT use forward-facing before the child's age exceeds 15 months.
  • Forward-facing (83-105 cm) (4.2): Similar to rearward-facing installation, but the seat is placed forward-facing. Requires removing the cushion and triangle sponge.
  • Forward-facing (105-135 cm) (4.3): The support leg is stowed, ISOFIX attachments are pulled out (if used), and the child is placed in the seat. The headrest height is adjusted to the child's shoulder height. The adult three-point seat belt is then routed across the child's body, through the car seat groove and headrest guide groove, and locked. It is critical to ensure the car seat belt is not slack or twisted.

Maintenance Features (Chapter 5):

  • Daily Maintenance (5.1):
    • Periodically check the child seat. Replace after an accident.
    • Store in a dry, ventilated place to prevent dampness/mold.
    • Clean dusty seat belts and plastic parts with a damp sponge and air dry.
    • If food/drink spills on the buckle, disassemble the seat belt, rinse gently with warm water, and air dry.
  • Washing Instruction (5.2):
    • Never use solvents, chemical detergents, or lubricants.
    • Hand wash only, water temperature below 30°C.
    • Do not bleach.
