Overview

This document describes the Glacik Paddlesports Vertical Freestanding Storage System, a rack designed for storing kayaks, paddleboards (SUPs), surfboards, canoes, and other similar devices.

Function Description

The Glacik Paddlesports Vertical Freestanding Storage System is a rack designed to vertically store up to three kayaks or similar watercraft. It features a freestanding design, allowing for placement without permanent wall or floor attachment, though securing it to a wall or floor is recommended for stability. The system is assembled from a base, vertical posts, a top cradle, and cradle ends, all secured with wing bolts and adjustable feet.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Maximum Kayak Length: 11 feet per kayak
  • Maximum Weight per Kayak: 65 lbs
  • Maximum Capacity: 3 kayaks (or similar devices)
  • Warranty: 1-year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty

Usage Features

  • Freestanding Design: The rack is designed to stand on its own, but for enhanced safety and stability, it is recommended to secure it to a wall or floor, especially if loads are not balanced or if the ground is not level and secure.
  • Adjustable Feet: The base includes adjustable feet (Part S) to help level the rack on uneven surfaces.
  • Modular Assembly: The system is assembled from individual parts (base, lower vertical posts, upper vertical posts, top cradle, cradle ends) using wing bolts (WY) and a tightening key.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Use: Primarily intended for indoor use. It can be used outdoors under specific conditions (no wind, no ground movement, proper care, and protection). Outdoor use will reduce the product's life and void the warranty. It should not be used on boat docks.
  • Secure Storage: Kayaks should be strapped to the center of the rack to prevent shifting. The top cradle arms are designed to be tightened onto the upper vertical posts with wing bolts to secure the structure. Cradle ends (Part E) are inserted into the top cradle (Part D) and locked with push pins to further secure the watercraft.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed, the instructions imply that proper care and protection are needed for outdoor use, suggesting regular cleaning and protection from elements.
  • Inspection: Before each use, it is crucial to inspect the product for any defects. The manual explicitly states, "Do not use if the product or any parts is defective."
  • Tightening: All nuts and bolts must be tightened securely during assembly and should be checked periodically. The manual emphasizes, "Make sure all nuts and bolts are tightened."
  • Moving the Rack: When moving the storage rack, all objects must be removed from the rack first to prevent damage or injury.
  • Warranty: A 1-year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty covers the product, indicating that certain defects or issues within this period may be eligible for repair or replacement. However, outdoor use voids this warranty.

Safety Guidelines and Warnings

The manual includes several critical safety guidelines to prevent property damage or personal injury:

  • Part Identification: Identify all parts before assembly as they are not labeled.
  • Defect Check: Do not use if any part is defective.
  • Stability: Do not tilt or lift the storage rack with items on it. Ensure loads are balanced, and the rack is on level, secure ground. Secure the rack to a wall or floor if necessary to prevent tipping.
  • Careful Placement: Place objects carefully and slowly; do not drop kayaks or any other objects on the rack.
  • No Climbing: Do not step, stand, or climb on the storage unit.
  • Secure Kayaks: Ensure kayaks or canoes can be safely placed and secured. Strap kayaks to the center of the rack to prevent shifting.
  • Safe Use Determination: Use only if you determine the rack can be used safely.
  • Manufacturer Responsibility: The manufacturer and its agents are not responsible for any damages or injuries caused by the use or misuse of the product.
  • Weight and Size Limits: Always follow the instructions and observe the specified weight and size limits.
  • Outdoor Use Restrictions: Outdoor use is restricted to specific weather and climate conditions (no wind, no ground movement) and voids the warranty. Avoid use on boat docks.
