Overview

This document serves as the user's manual for the Special Tomato Jogger, a specialized pushchair designed for one child, emphasizing safety, comfort, and durability. The Jogger is intended for active use, including jogging, and features a robust design with various adjustable components to accommodate the child and user's needs.

Function Description

The Special Tomato Jogger is a mobility aid designed to transport a child, particularly suitable for active parents or caregivers who wish to jog or navigate varied terrain. Its primary function is to provide a secure and comfortable seating solution for the child while offering ease of maneuverability for the adult. The Jogger incorporates a sturdy frame, three wheels (one front, two rear), a comprehensive safety harness, a reclining seat, a canopy for weather protection, and a storage basket. It is built to withstand regular use and offers features that enhance both the child's safety and the user's convenience.

Usage Features

The Jogger's design focuses on user-friendliness and adaptability.

Frame and Unfolding:

To unfold the Jogger, it must be unpacked from its box with the wheels set aside. The user pushes the footplate away from the handle, simultaneously pushing the curved crossbar up and out. An audible click confirms that the frame is fully unfolded. Once unfolded, the Jogger is flipped to an upright position. The lower belting is then clipped around the frame to secure the seat fabric, ensuring the seat is properly supported.

Wheel Installation and Adjustment:

  • Front Wheel: For front wheel installation, the Jogger should be laid on its back so the handle and rear axles touch the floor. Safety locks on both sides of the fork must be engaged and checked before each use. The front wheel is inserted into the fork tips by aligning the axle flats with the fork tip flat surfaces. The wheel lever is then tightened by turning it and securing the other side. Finally, the wheel lever is closed, ensuring it is flush with the tubing, without overtightening. The front brake features a fine adjustment knob for precise control.
  • Front Wheel In-Line Locking: The in-line locking mechanism for the front wheel is located behind its pivot point. To lock or unlock the wheel, the knob is pulled and rotated. This feature is crucial for maintaining a straight path during jogging.
  • Rear Wheels: To install a rear wheel, its axle is gently slid into the frame's supporting axle hole until an audible click confirms it is in place. To remove a rear wheel, the spring lock tab is pushed down while pulling out on the wheel.
  • Rear Wheel Parking Brake: The parking brake is applied by pressing down on the foot bar. To disengage the brake, the foot bar is pulled up. This ensures the Jogger remains stationary when parked.

Safety Harness:

The safety harness is paramount for the child's security. To adjust it, hooks are unclipped, and the fleece lining is removed (Velcro tabs are visible). Harness straps are unthreaded from the fleece lining. Shoulder straps are adjusted to the desired height using loops on the seat back. Plastic guides are slid up and down to adjust strap length. Once fitting is complete, the fleece lining is reassembled. The shoulder strap buckle is clipped to the chest harness. The length of the center strap is adjusted by moving the plastic guide up and down. Proper fitting of the harness is critical for the child's safety and the Jogger's stability.

Reclining Seat:

The seat's recline can be adjusted by simply changing the length of the recline strap to the desired degree. For maximum recline, the buckle is unlocked. This feature allows for comfortable positioning of the child, whether they are awake or sleeping.

Canopy:

The canopy provides protection from the elements. It is fastened to the upper frame where the fabric does not cover it. Small holes in the crest of the frame tubing accept the canopy. It is essential to ensure there are no obstructions (fabric or brake lines) between the canopy clip and the frame. A small plastic nipple on the canopy mechanism fits into a hole in the frame. The wire on the back side of the canopy mechanism is hooked, and the lever is closed by pressing it to the frame. It is important not to force it closed and to double-check for obstructions and ensure the nipple is inserted into the frame.

Handle Height:

The handle height is adjustable for the user's comfort. Levers on both sides of the handle are unlocked, the handle is adjusted to the desired height, and then the levers are relocked.

Folding:

To fold the Jogger, mechanisms located below the handle on both sides are squeezed. The Jogger is then folded backward. Once folded, it is secured in position with the recline strap.

Attendant Strap:

A safety wrist strap is provided and must be secured properly around the user's wrist whenever the child is in the Jogger. This prevents the Jogger from rolling away unintentionally.

Optional Accessories:

  • Seat and Back Liner: These liners are installed using provided straps fed through slots in the Jogger's seat and back. Back liner straps are placed into slots at a height where laterals provide support. Seat liner straps go through the lowest slots. The straps for both liners are clipped together on the back side of the Jogger and tightened. The Jogger Chest Harness should lay over the top of the Back Liner for correct positioning. The Jogger 3-Point lap belt can be fed through the three holes of the Seat Liner for optional positioning.
  • Head Rest: The optional head rest is secured to the Jogger using a provided strap. The strap is threaded through slots on the Jogger, and then the straps are clipped together on the back side and tightened.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safety of the Special Tomato Jogger.

General Maintenance:

  • Regular Checks: All rivets and connecting devices should be checked regularly for tightness and security. Brakes, wheels, and tires should be inspected and repaired or replaced if necessary. All safety devices, especially primary and secondary locks, must be checked for correct operation and should move freely at all times.
  • Service Recommendation: A service every 12 months is recommended.
  • Lubrication: If wheels squeak, they should be lubricated sparingly with Teflon or silicone coating. Oil or grease-based products should NOT be used as they attract dirt and can clog the movement.
  • Replacement Parts: Only manufacturer replacement parts should be used. Using parts not supplied by the manufacturer may be unsafe.

Cleaning:

  • Frame: The frame should be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, then dried thoroughly.
  • Saltwater Exposure: If the stroller chassis parts have been exposed to saltwater, they should be rinsed down with fresh (tap) water as soon as possible.
  • Canopy and Fabric Parts: The canopy can be sponged lightly with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. The seat cover, head cushion, lateral pads, and harness pads can be washed. These items should be line-dried thoroughly before reuse.
  • Storage: The product should not be folded or stored while wet, and it should never be stored in a damp environment, as this can lead to mildew formation.

The manufacturer reserves the right to make design changes to any of their products as part of their continuous design improvement program. This commitment ensures that the Jogger remains a high-quality and evolving product.
