Conditions for Setting the DTC
ECT sensor voltage less than 0.059.
ECT sensor voltage greater than 4.888.
ECT sensor voltage greater than 4.99.
MIL - on during active fault and for 2 seconds after active fault.
Circuit Description
The Coolant Temperature Sensor is a Negative Coefficient (as the temperature ris-
es, the resistance drops) temperature sensitive resistor located in the Cylinder Head.
The ECM uses the reading to determine temperature related operating condition re-
quirements for the engine. Five volts is applied across the sensor and voltage drop is
measured to determine the temperature.
