WEATHER-PACK TERMINAL REPAIR
1. Open secondary lock hinge on connector.
2. Remove terminal using tool.
3. Cut wire immediately behind cable seal
4. Replace terminal.
a. Slip new seal onto wire
b. Strip 5 mm (.2”) of insulation from wire.
c. Crimp terminal over wire and seal.
5. Push terminal and connector and engage
locking tangs.
6. Close secondary lock hinge.
Use tool J M28742, or BT8234-A or equivalent to
remove the pin and sleeve terminals. If the re-
moval is attempted with an ordinary pick, there is
a good chance that the terminal will be bent, or
deformed. Unlike standard blade type terminals,
these terminals cannot be straightened once
they are bent.
Verify that the connectors are properly seated
and all of the sealing rings in place, when con-
necting leads. The hinge type ap provides a
backup, or secondary locking feature for the
connector. They are used to improve the con-
nector reliability by retaining the terminals, if the
small terminal lock tabs are not positioned prop-
erly.
Weather-Pack connections cannot be replaced
with standard connections. Additional instruc-
tions are provided with Weather-Pack connector
and terminal packages.
