What to do if Speeflo Water Pump pattern is expanding and contracting?
    • M
      Michael DoyleAug 20, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is experiencing a pattern that expands and contracts, it may be due to a suction leak or pulsating fluid delivery. Inspect for suction hose leaks. Other solutions include changing to a smaller tip orifice size, installing a pulsation dampener, reducing the number of guns using the pump, and removing any restrictions in the system, such as cleaning the tip screen if a filter is used.

Why does Speeflo Water Pump only deliver on upstroke?
    • C
      Cathy BriggsAug 22, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is only delivering material on the upstroke, or goes up slowly and down fast, it is possible that the lower foot valve ball is not seating properly due to trash or wear, the material is too viscous to siphon, there's an air leak on the siphon side, the siphon hose is damaged, or the siphon is too small for the material. Remove the foot valve assembly to clean and inspect it. Test the foot valve by filling it with water; replace the ball if it doesn't seal. Thin the material, tighten all connections between the pump and paint container, and replace the siphon hose if damaged. If needed, switch to a larger diameter siphon set.

How to increase fluid pressure in Speeflo Water Pump?
    • J
      Jennifer HornAug 25, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is not providing enough fluid pressure at the gun, the spray tip could be worn, the outlet or gun filter might be clogged, there could be low voltage or inadequate amperage, or the hose size/length may be inappropriate. Try replacing the spray tip, cleaning or replacing the filter, checking the electrical service, and increasing the hose size or reducing its length.

Why Speeflo Water Pump only delivers on down stroke?

      Andrew PierceAug 27, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is delivering material only on the down stroke, or going up fast and down slowly, the upper ball may not be seating due to trash or wear, or the lower packing set may be worn. Check the upper seat and ball with water, and replace the seat if the ball fails to seal. Also, replace the packing set if it is worn.

What to do if Speeflo Water Pump moves fast but delivers material?
    • J
      Jerry MathewsAug 28, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is moving up and down fast but still delivering material, the material container might be empty, the material could be too thick to flow through the siphon hose, the bottom ball could be stuck to the foot valve seat, or the siphon hose might be kinked or loose. Refill the material container. If the material is too thick, remove the siphon hose and immerse the pump or add thinner. You might also need a bigger siphon set. Open the bleed valve to remove air and restart the pump. Remove the foot valve to clean the ball and seat, and straighten any kinks in the siphon hose.

Why Speeflo Water Pump moves slowly when gun is off?
    • L
      laurenandersonAug 30, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is moving up and down slowly when the spray gun is shut off, there may be loose connections, the bleed valve could be partially open or worn, the lower packing seat might be worn, or the upper and/or lower ball may not be seating properly. Check and tighten all connections between the pump and gun. If material is flowing from the bleed hose, close or replace the bleed valve. If these steps don't resolve the issue, replace the lower packing and reseat the balls by cleaning them.

Why Speeflo Water Pump oil motor stalls at bottom?
    • D
      Duane MillerSep 1, 2025
If the oil motor stalls at the bottom in your Speeflo Water Pump (without unusual heat problems), the fluid pump piston seat may be unthreaded, the valve might be sticking, or the oil motor trip rod shifter assembly could be separated. If the connecting rod is okay, remove the cylinder head plug and pop the valve down, then replace the plug and start the machine. If it cycles up and stops again, check the piston seat on the fluid pump, repairing or replacing it as necessary. If the piston seat is okay, check the oil motor, removing the valve to inspect for scratches and rough movement. Replace the valve and spool if needed, and check the trip rod for separation.

Why Speeflo Water Pump oil motor stalls at top?
    • C
      Cody BensonSep 3, 2025
If the oil motor stalls at the top in your Speeflo Water Pump (without unusual heat problems), the valve might be sticking, the spring retainer (valve rod assembly) could be broken, the spring or valve rod might be broken, or there could be air in the hydraulic motor or fluid pump. Remove the valve and check for scratches and rough movement; replace the valve and spool if needed. Replace the valve rod assembly and reset the valve. Purge air by low pressure cycling for 5-10 minutes and check for causes of air introduction.

Why Speeflo Water Pump has low pressure on upstroke?
    • D
      Drew MillerSep 5, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is experiencing low pressure (okay on down stroke, sluggish on upstroke with high heat), and the engine labors on the upstroke but idles back at stall on the down stroke, it may be due to a blown piston seal or a cracked piston. Before dismantling the oil motor, start the machine and touch the hydraulic cylinder and head to see if they get hotter, which can help determine if the piston seal is blown or the piston nut is broken. If the heat is on the head, check the O-Rings on the spool valve. Dismantle the oil motor and check the piston seals, cylinder bore, and piston nut, paying special attention to the piston nut for cracks.

Why Speeflo Water Pump has low pressure on both strokes?
    • A
      april27Sep 7, 2025
If your Speeflo Water Pump is experiencing low pressure on both strokes with high heat, and the engine labors at stall on both strokes, it could be due to blown center O-Rings on the spool valve or a bad hydraulic pump. Before dismantling the oil motor, start the machine and touch the head to see if it becomes hotter, which indicates a blown center O-Ring on the spool valve. If hot, remove and replace the O-Ring. If the problem persists, replace the hydraulic pump.
