Overview

The Stage Right SRD215 15" Powered Speaker is a versatile audio device designed for indoor use, offering a range of features for playback and connectivity. This user-friendly speaker is suitable for various applications, from personal listening to more demanding audio setups, and incorporates several safety and maintenance guidelines to ensure reliable operation.

Function Description:

The SRD215 is a powered speaker, meaning it has a built-in amplifier, eliminating the need for external amplification. Its primary function is to reproduce audio from various sources, delivering clear and powerful sound through its 15-inch woofer and 1.75-inch tweeter. The speaker is equipped with a comprehensive Digital Player that supports playback from SD™ cards, USB flash drives, and Bluetooth® enabled devices, making it highly adaptable to different media sources.

The Digital Player interface includes dedicated slots for SD™ cards and USB drives, allowing users to play MP3 files directly from these storage devices. The control section for the Digital Player features a MODE button to switch between USB, SD, and Bluetooth® modes. Additional controls include Play/Pause, Stop, Repeat, Previous Track, and Next Track buttons, providing full command over media playback. The Repeat function offers options for no repeat (OFF), repeating the current track (ONE), random playback (RDO), and repeating all tracks (ALL), catering to different listening preferences.

Beyond its digital playback capabilities, the SRD215 offers multiple input options for connecting external audio sources. It includes an unbalanced stereo RCA IN for line-level inputs, as well as a combination 1/4" / XLR input jack (LINE A) for other line-level devices. A dedicated volume control (RCA/LINE A LEVEL) allows for precise adjustment of the input levels from these sources. For connecting additional speakers or audio equipment, the SRD215 features a MIX OUT, providing a line-level output.

For microphone or additional line-level inputs, the speaker is equipped with another combination 1/4" / XLR input jack (MIC/LINE B). A LINE/MIC button allows users to switch the input sensitivity of MIC/LINE B between line level and microphone level, making it suitable for connecting dynamic microphones directly. The MIC/LINE B LEVEL knob provides independent volume control for this input.

The SRD215 also incorporates Digital Signal Processing (DSP) modes, which can be selected using the DSP PRESET knob. These modes optimize the speaker's sound characteristics for different environments or content types. DSP MODE LEDs indicate which DSP mode is currently active, providing visual feedback to the user.

Operating LEDs offer crucial status information: the POWER LED illuminates when the speaker is turned on, the SIG LED indicates that an input signal is detected, and the CLIP LED warns of audio clipping, prompting the user to reduce the volume to prevent distortion and potential damage.

For power management, the speaker includes a 115V/230V voltage selector switch, protected by a clear plastic plate to prevent accidental changes. The POWER switch turns the speaker on or off, and the AC INPUT is a combination IEC 60320 C14 power connector and fuse holder, ensuring safe power connection and protection.

Usage Features:

The SRD215 is designed for straightforward operation, making it accessible for both novice and experienced users. Its robust construction and versatile input options allow it to be integrated into various audio setups.

  • Flexible Media Playback: The integrated Digital Player supports SD™ cards, USB flash drives, and Bluetooth® connectivity, offering multiple ways to play audio files. This flexibility is ideal for DJs, presenters, or anyone needing quick access to digital music libraries without additional equipment.
  • Bluetooth® Pairing: The Bluetooth® pairing process is simple: select BT mode, scan for devices on your mobile phone, and connect to "SRD215." A standard passcode (0000) ensures secure pairing. The speaker automatically attempts to reconnect to previously paired devices within range, enhancing convenience.
  • Multiple Input Sources: With RCA, 1/4" / XLR line inputs, and a switchable MIC/LINE B input, the SRD215 can accommodate a wide array of audio devices, including mixers, instruments, and microphones. Independent level controls for RCA/LINE A and MIC/LINE B allow for precise mixing of different sources.
  • DSP Modes for Sound Optimization: The DSP PRESET knob enables users to quickly select different sound profiles, adapting the speaker's output to suit various audio content (e.g., music, speech) or acoustic environments. This feature helps achieve optimal sound quality without complex equalization adjustments.
  • Daisy-Chaining Capability: The MIX OUT allows for easy connection to another speaker, enabling users to expand their sound system by daisy-chaining multiple SRD215 units or connecting to other powered speakers.
  • Visual Status Indicators: The POWER, SIG, and CLIP LEDs provide immediate visual feedback on the speaker's operational status. The CLIP LED is particularly useful for preventing audio distortion and protecting the speaker by indicating when input levels are too high.
  • Voltage Selector: The 115V/230V switch ensures compatibility with different regional power standards, making the speaker suitable for international use, provided the correct voltage is selected. The protective cover over the switch prevents accidental changes.

Maintenance Features:

Maintaining the SRD215 involves adhering to a set of safety warnings and guidelines to ensure its longevity and safe operation.

  • Indoor Use Only: The device is strictly intended for indoor use, protecting it from environmental elements that could cause damage.
  • Protection from Moisture: Users must prevent exposure to water or moisture of any kind. This includes avoiding placing drinks or other liquid containers near the device. If moisture exposure occurs, the device should be immediately disconnected from power and allowed to dry completely before reapplication of power. Operating in humid environments requires vigilance to prevent condensation, which can damage internal components and pose electrical hazards.
  • Safe Handling: Always handle the device, power cord, and connected cables with dry hands to prevent electric shock.
  • Stable Installation: The speaker should be installed on a stable surface to prevent it from falling, which could cause personal injury or damage to the device and other equipment.
  • Environmental Protection: Avoid exposing the speaker to excessive vibration, extreme force, shock, or fluctuations in temperature and humidity. It should not be placed near heat sources (fireplaces, stoves, radiators) or in direct sunlight. Additionally, the installation area should be free from excessive dust, humidity, oil, smoke, or combustible vapors.
  • Pre-Operation Inspection: Before each use, a physical inspection of the unit and its power cord for any damage is recommended. The device should not be used if any physical damage is observed.
  • Power Supply Requirements: Ensure that the power outlet provides the correct type and level of power required by the device. The SRD215 uses a grounded power cord, and a proper ground connection is essential for safe operation. Users should never modify the plug or use "cheater" plugs to bypass the ground connection.
  • Fuse Replacement: If a fuse needs replacement, the unit must be disconnected from the power source, and only a fuse of the same type should be used.
  • Power Cord Care: The power cord should be protected from crimping, pinching, being walked on, or becoming tangled with other cords. It's crucial to ensure the power cord does not present a tripping hazard. When unplugging, always grasp the connector head or adapter body, not the cord itself.
  • Cleaning: The speaker should be cleaned using a soft, dry cloth. Chemical cleaners, solvents, or detergents should be avoided. For stubborn deposits, the cloth can be moistened with warm water.
  • No User-Serviceable Parts: The SRD215 contains no user-serviceable parts. Users should not attempt to open, service, or modify the device, as this could void warranties and pose safety risks.
  • Electrical Connections: Always ensure that power is turned off and disconnected before making any electrical connections to the speaker.

By following these guidelines, users can ensure the safe and effective operation of their Stage Right SRD215 15" Powered Speaker, maximizing its lifespan and performance.
