Note: This could also mean a problem with a charger. If the
charger indicates a problem, take the charger and battery
pack to be tested at an authorized service centre.
Leaving the battery in the charger
The charger and battery pack can be left connected with the
LEDglowingindenitely.Thechargerwillkeepthebattery
pack fresh and fully charged.
Hot/Cold Pack Delay
When the charger detects a battery that is too hot or too cold,
itautomaticallystartsaHot/ColdPackDelay,thegreenLED
(11a)willashintermittently,whiletheredLED(11b)will
remain on continuously, suspending charging until the battery
has reached an appropriate temperature. The charger then
automatically switches to the pack charging mode. This
feature ensures maximum battery life.
Battery state of charge indicator (Fig. B)
The battery includes a state of charge indicator to quickly
determinetheextentofbatterylifeasshowningureB.By
pressing the state of charge button (9a) you can easily view
thechargeremaininginthebatteryasillustratedingureB.
Installing and Removing the Battery Pack from the
tool
Warning! Make certain the lock-off button is engaged to
prevent switch actuation before removing or installing battery.
To install battery pack (Fig. C)
u Insertbatterypack(9)rmlyintotooluntilanaudibleclick
isheardasshowningureC.Ensurebatterypackisfully
seated and fully latched into position.
To remove battery pack (Fig. C)
u Depressthebatteryreleasebutton(9b)asshowningure
C and pull battery pack out of tool.
Belt hook (Optional extra, sold seperately) (Fig. D)
Warning!Toreducetheriskofseriouspersonalinjury,
placetheforward/reversebuttoninthelock-offpositionor
turn tool off and disconnect battery pack before making
anyadjustmentsorremoving/installingattachmentsor
accessories.
Anaccidentalstart-upcancauseinjury.
Warning!Toreducetheriskofseriouspersonalinjury,ONLY
use the tool’s belt hook (12) to hang the tool from a work belt.
DO NOT use the belt hook (12) for tethering or securing the
tooltoapersonorobjectduringuse.DONOTsuspendtool
overheadorsuspendobjectsfromthebelthook.
Warning!Toreducetheriskofseriouspersonalinjury,ensure
the screw (13) holding the belt hook is secure.
Note: When attaching or replacing the belt hook (12), use only
the screw (13) that is provided. Be sure to securely tighten
the screw.
The belt hook (12) can be be attached to either side of the tool
using only the screw (13) provided, to accommodate left- or
right- handed users. If the hook is not desired at all, it can be
removed from the tool.
To move the belt hook, remove the screw (13) that holds the
belt hook (12) in place then reassemble on the opposite side.
Be sure to securely tighten the screw (13).

Side handle (Fig. E)
Warning!Toreducetheriskofpersonalinjury,ALWAYS
operate the tool with the side handle properly installed. Failure
to do so may result in the side handle slipping during tool
operation and subsequent loss of control. Hold tool with both
hands to maximize control.
Warning! Before using the tool, check that the side handle is
tightened securely.
The side handle (4) threads into either side of the motor
housing (5) and allows right or left hand use.
Installing the side handle (Fig. E)
Warning! The side handle should always be used to maintain
control of the tool at all times.
u Choose right or left hand use and insert the side handle
(4) into the side handle hole located on either side of the
motor housing (5).
u Lock the side handle (4) in place by securely tightening
the side handle (4) rotating it clockwise so that the side
handle (4) will not rotate.
u To switch the location of the side handle (4) rotate the
side handle counterclockwise until it is free from the motor
housing. Move the side handle to the opposite position
and reinstall as described above.
Installing and removing the auger bit or other tool
specific accessory (Fig. F, G)
Warning! Always lock off trigger switch and disconnect tool
from power source when changing accessories.
