pressure which is in accordance with the requirements
of the Authority Having Jurisdiction — usually 5 psi
(0.34 bar) higher than the required system air pressure.
7. Installation of an Air Maintenance Device, which pro-
vides a restricted air inlet for the automatic air supply, is
recommended.
8. An Inspector’s Test Connection as required by NFPA 13
must be provided on the system piping at the most re-
mote location from the Model A-1 Dry Pipe Valve.
9. Conduit and electrical connections are to be made in ac-
cordance with the requirements of the authority having
jurisdiction and/or the National Electric Code.
10. Before hydrostatic tests are performed in accordance
with NFPA 13 system acceptance test requirements, the
Clapper Assembly is to be manually latched open (Ref.
Figure 2-C); the Automatic Drain Valve (5 -Fig. 4) is to
be temporarily replaced with a 1/2 inch NPT pipe plug;
and the Handhole Cover Bolts are to be tightened using
a cross-draw sequence. Also, if a Model S430 Accelera-
tor is being utilized, the Accelerator control Valve must
be closed.
