Fitting the skirt
N In order to push the skirt easily into
the gap on the deflector, apply a thin
coating of resin-free oil to the top of
the skirt
N Thread the skirt (3) into the
segment (6) and push into the
gap (5) of the deflector – the bore in
the skirt must be fixed in the
arbor (4)
N Place washer (2) onto screw (1).
N Insert and tighten the screw (1)
A bent or cracked blade must not be
straightened or welded – it may break
completely! – it must be replaced – see
"Fitting the blade".
STIHL recommends the use of only
genuine STIHL blades.
Do not resharpen the blade!
N Replace the blade (1), if its
length (A) is no longer sufficient to
adjust the depth of cut (C) with the
necessary ground clearance (B).
Checking the balance
To avoid out-of-balance blades:
N Have the blade checked by a
servicing dealer with the STIHL
balancer (special accessory) to see
if it is out of balance – STIHL
recommends the STIHL servicing
dealer – replace the blade if it is out
of balance, see "Fitting the blade"
Checking the protection against wear
N Before starting up the machine,
check that the protection against
wear (1) is not damaged
N Replace the protection against wear
at the latest when the gearbox (2)
becomes visible (arrow)
NOTICE
If worn deflectors are not replaced in
time, this can cause serious damage to
the gearbox.
