What to do if Stinger Test Equipment compressor cuts out with high pressure and red LED?
    • T
      Tracy CervantesAug 14, 2025
If the compressor starts and cuts out within minutes, the high pressure gauge reads high, and the status LED is red, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure the function valve is in the RECOVER position, not PURGE. Then, check that the outlet valve is OPEN. Also, verify that the recovery tank valves are open and that there isn't a blockage in the discharge hose. Finally, bleed any air from the system or tank.

How to fix a slow recovery process on Stinger Test Equipment?
    • J
      Jessica AtkinsonAug 20, 2025
If the recovery process with your Stinger Test Equipment is too slow, it might be due to high head pressure. Try reducing the tank temperature or changing tanks. Another cause could be the system refrigerant icing up, so interrupt the process and allow the ice to dissipate. Also, check for any restrictions in the hoses or manifold gauge set and clear them. Finally, worn compressor seals could be the culprit, requiring a compressor rebuild.

Why is the cooling fan not running on my Stinger Refrigerant Recovery Unit?
    • M
      mullinschristopherAug 25, 2025
If the AC power switch is ON, but the cooling fan isn't running on your Stinger Test Equipment, it could be due to a defective fan, which would need replacement. Alternatively, there might be an obstruction in the fan blades, so remove any obstructions.

What causes Stinger Test Equipment to overheat?
    • L
      llawsonAug 27, 2025
If your Stinger Test Equipment unit overheats, it may be due to excessive suction pressure caused by high ambient temperature. Reduce the inlet pressure below 80 psi by throttling the inlet valve.

What to do if Stinger Refrigerant Recovery Unit won't turn on?
    • M
      Mr. Gregory JonesAug 30, 2025
If the AC power switch is ON, but the fan, compressor, and status LED are all OFF on your Stinger Test Equipment, first ensure the power cord is properly attached. Next, verify there is voltage at the AC outlet. Lastly, check if the circuit breaker has opened; if so, identify and rectify the cause before resetting it.

Why is the compressor off but the fan is running on Stinger Test Equipment?
    • M
      Michael SosaSep 3, 2025
If the Status LED is OFF, the fan is running, but the compressor is OFF on your Stinger Test Equipment, it could be because the low pressure switch has activated due to the inlet port reaching a vacuum of 13" Hg during the recovery process, indicating system evacuation is complete. If the low pressure switch remains activated even after exposing the inlet port to atmospheric pressure, apply 1 – 2 psi pressure to the inlet port to reset it.

What to do if Stinger Refrigerant Recovery Unit compressor cuts out with low pressure and LED off?
    • C
      clarkmorganSep 6, 2025
If the compressor starts but cuts out within a few minutes, the low pressure gauge reads low, and the status LED is OFF on your Stinger Test Equipment, first ensure the inlet valve is in the RECOVER position, not PURGE or CLOSED. Also, check for any blockages in the intake hose and clear them.

    Michael PalmerSep 9, 2025
Why does the status LED stay red on Stinger Test Equipment after fixing high pressure?
    • L
      Larry BarnesSep 9, 2025
If the Status LED still glows red after clearing a high pressure condition on your Stinger Test Equipment, it's possible the high pressure circuit has latched ON. Turn the unit OFF and then back ON to resolve this.

Why is the status LED red and the Stinger Test Equipment compressor not working?
    • C
      Chloe GarciaNov 16, 2025
If the Status LED glows red and the compressor either doesn't start or stops running, first ensure the yellow STI cord is connected to the tank if you're using the optional 80% tank full shutoff. If the tank is full, and you have a float switch, it may have opened; if not, short the cord and use a scale. A faulty float switch may also be the cause, so try changing tanks. High pressure exceeding 550 psi could also trigger this; check for discharge line restrictions and ensure the recovery tank valve is open, then rotate the function valve to PURGE and back to RECOVER, and check that the outlet valve is OPEN. Overheating can also cause this, so turn the unit OFF and let it cool for at least 15 minutes. If none of these solve the issue, it may indicate an electronics failure requiring factory...
