Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the SUHNER BSG 10 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SUHNER BSG 10 is a hand-held abrasive tool designed for dry processing of metal surfaces. It is primarily used for clamping grinding belts for various applications such as grinding, satin finishing, matting, patterning, polishing, and smoothing.

Technical Specifications:

  • Connection: G28
  • Maximum Speed: 7,000 min⁻¹
  • Vibration (EN 60745): <2.5 m/s², K=1.5 m/s²
  • Grinding Belt Length: 450 mm
  • Weight (without cable): 1.590 kg
  • Operating Temperature Range: 0 to +50°C
  • Storage Temperature Range: -15°C to +50°C
  • Relative Air Humidity (Operating): 95% at +10°C (non-condensing)
  • Maximum Relative Air Humidity (Storage): 90% at +30°C, 65% at +50°C

The specified vibration value is measured according to a standardized test method and may differ from the actual operating value. It can be used for product comparisons or for an introductory assessment of work breaks.

Usage Features:

The BSG 10 hand tool is designed for ease of use and precision.

  • Assembly and Disassembly: To attach the hand tool, press the locking button and insert the hose coupling into the hand tool hole, ensuring the button is engaged. Disassembly follows the reverse order. For the belt grinding tool, contact rollers, and grinding belt: place the contact rollers on the spindle, add washers, and screw on the nuts. Hold the contact rollers firmly and tighten the nuts with assembly tools. Disassembly is in reverse order.
  • Grinding Belt Alignment: The adjustable contact roller can be aligned parallel to the fixed contact roller using a setscrew. Hold the hand tool firmly at the handle and press the spring-loaded headpiece flat against a firm surface. The grinding belt should be centered over the contact rollers in the correct direction. The belt is tensioned as soon as pressure is removed from the headpiece.
  • Working Instructions: For optimal grinding results, move the grinding tool uniformly back and forth with light pressure. Excessive pressure reduces the hand tool's performance and the grinding tool's lifespan. Grinding belts can move in any direction without warning, so uniform tension should be applied to the fixed contact roller to prevent uneven wear and negative effects on belt run. The hand tool should be held so that the grinding belt operates where it is pulled by the contact roller (driving side).
  • Speed and Belt Adjustment: Adjust the belt run at the lowest speed, ensuring the grinding belt runs over the center of the contact roller. Never exceed the maximum permissible speed for the grinding belt or hand tool. Replace grinding belts with poor running behavior.
  • Safety Precautions: Never aim the exposed grinding belt side at persons or reach into it. Only work with the fixed contact roller.
  • Switching On/Off: Hold the hand tool firmly and switch on the drive. Conduct a test run at a speed less than 1000 rpm. Slowly turn the belt adjusting screw to center the belt on the contact rollers. Switch off the drive and repeat the process at the working speed. Be aware that the tool continues to run for a short period after being switched off. Always place the hand tool down safely to prevent danger and remove it from the shaft after use.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the BSG 10.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Always keep the hand tool clean and store it in a dry place. Replace contact rollers as soon as they show signs of wear or uneven abrasion. Damaged guards must also be replaced.
  • Repair: If the hand tool malfunctions despite careful manufacturing and testing, repairs must be carried out by an authorized SUHNER service agency.
  • Warranty: The warranty does not cover damages or consequential damages resulting from improper handling, unintended use, failure to observe maintenance instructions, or handling by unauthorized personnel. Complaints are only accepted if the hand tool is returned in an unassembled condition.
  • Disposal: The hand tool consists of recyclable materials. Before disposal, render the hand tool unusable. Do not dispose of the hand tool in general waste. It must be disposed of in an environmentally-compatible recycling process according to national regulations.
