4.3.1.- Works of welding and grinding
If some work of welding and grinding
should be done, there is a potential hazard of
fire of the synthetic materials components;
therefore the followings instruction must adhe-
red to:
a) A foam extinguisher must be ready to be
used.
b) Put a plug on the upper air exit to avoid
air draughts in the tower.
In case of installations with explosion risks,
the instructions in case of explosions must be
observed.
4.3.2.- Access to the cooling tower
If some works of maintenance are to be
made in the tower or its components, the main
electric switch must be disconnected and a
warning of good visibility must be placed:
“DO NOT CONNECT, DANGER OF DEATH”
4.3.3.- Water connections
The water pipes for consumption and the
potable water can only be connected together
when, according to the rules about water
hygiene (see DIN 1988), a specially built pipe
separator is used, controlled and approved by
DVGW.
4.3.4.- Operation at low temperatures
During long periods of cold temperatures, a
danger exists of ice formations, especially in
the following spots:
a) Around the tower (about 1 m.) due to the
water splashes coming out through the
louvers.
b) In the tower proximity (around 5 to 50
m.) due to the dragging of droplets at air
exit.
4.3.1.- Travaux de soudure et meulage
Des risques d´incendie des composants en
matériaux synthétiques existent en cas de réa-
lisation des travaux de soudure ou de meula-
ge, c´est pourquoi on doit tenir compte des
instructions suivantes:
a) Préparer un extincteur à mousse.
b) Boucher la sortie supérieure de l´air pour
éviter des courants d´air dans la tour.
En cas d´installation dans des lieux sensi-
bles aux explosions, on doit observer les ins-
tructions locales pour prévenir tout risque.
4.3.2.- Accès à la tour de refroidissement
Si l´on doit réaliser des travaux sur le venti-
lateur ou ses composants, il faut débrancher
l´interrupteur principal et mettre un avis bien
visible.

4.3.3.- Connexions d´eau
Les conduites d´eau pour l´eau de consom-
mation et l´eau potable ne peuvent se connec-
ter entre elles que lorsque, d´après les lois sur
l´hygiène de l´eau (voyez DIN 1988), on utilise
un séparateur de tuyau spécialement conçu à
cet effet (controlé et aprouvé par le DVGW).
4.3.4.- Fonctionnement à basses
températures
Pendant de longues périodes de froid, il
existe le risque de formations de glace, princi-
palement dans les points suivants:
a) Autour de la tour (aprox. 1 m) par les
éclaboussures produites à travers les
persiennes.
b) Dans les alentours de la tour (entre 5-50
m) à cause du entraînement de goutte-
lettes à la sortie de l´air.
