The Optidrive P2 is an AC Variable Speed Drive, designed for controlling motor speeds in a range of applications. It supports power ratings from 0.75 to 250 kW (1 to 350 HP) and operates with 200-600V single and three-phase inputs. The drive is available in various enclosure types including IP20, IP55, and IP66, catering to different environmental requirements.
Function Description:
The Optidrive P2 allows for precise control of AC motors, offering functions such as speed regulation, torque control, and energy optimization. It features an internal PID controller, enabling closed-loop control for processes requiring constant feedback. The drive can be configured for different motor types, including Asynchronous Induction Motors, Permanent Magnet AC (PM AC) Motors, Brushless DC (BLDC) Motors, and Synchronous Reluctance (Syn RM) Motors, providing flexibility for a wide range of industrial applications.
The drive's control system supports various command sources, including terminal control, keypad control (uni-directional and bi-directional), PID control, Fieldbus Mode (Modbus RTU, CANopen), and Slave Mode for master-slave configurations. Digital and analog inputs/outputs provide versatile connectivity for external control signals and monitoring. Two relay outputs are available for switching external resistive loads up to 5A at 230V AC or 30V DC.
A key safety feature is the "Safe Torque Off" (STO) function, which prevents the drive from creating torque in the motor when activated, ensuring compliance with safety standards like IEC 61800-5-2 and EN ISO 13849-1. This function is designed for uncontrolled stops (Category 0 Emergency Off) and requires specific re-energization steps to exit the safe state.

Usage Features:
- Keypad and Display: A TFT display provides real-time operating information (output frequency, motor current, power, speed) and access to parameters. A "Quick Help" button offers short descriptions of displayed messages.
- Language Selection: The TFT display supports multiple languages (Español, Deutsch, English).
- Parameter Access: Parameters are organized into groups (Basic, Extended, PID Control, High Performance Motor Control, Communication, Advanced Configuration, Additional Ramps and Functions, Monitoring). Access levels can be configured (P1-14, P2-40, P6-30) for basic, extended, or full access.
- Stop Modes: Multiple stop modes are available (Ramp, Coast, Ramp with brake chopper, Coast with brake chopper, AC Flux Braking) configurable via P1-05.
- Energy Optimiser: When enabled (P1-06), this feature reduces energy consumption at constant speeds and light loads by adjusting the output voltage.
- Autotune Function: For Sensorless Vector Speed Control, a motor data autotune (P4-02=1) measures electrical data for optimal control.
- Skip Frequency: The skip frequency function (P2-09, P2-10) avoids operating at frequencies that cause mechanical resonance.
- Automatic Restart: Configurable start modes (P2-36) define drive behavior after power-on or reset, including automatic restart options.
- Mains Loss Ride Through: The drive can attempt to continue operating during short mains loss periods by recovering energy from the load motor (P2-38).
- Integrated Control Switch and Potentiometer (IP66 Switched Models): Offers direct operation from the front panel with Hand/Auto or Local/Remote control options.
Maintenance Features:
- Capacitor Reforming: For drives stored for extended periods, a capacitor reforming procedure is required before operation, involving applying reduced mains voltage for specific durations (refer to 3.4).
- Thermal Overload Protection: Internal motor overload protection (P4-12) monitors motor current and trips the drive if thermal limits are exceeded. Thermal overload retention can be enabled to retain the accumulator value during power-off.
- Brake Resistor Overload Protection: Software protection for the brake resistor is included, requiring resistance (P6-19) and power (P6-20) settings. External thermal overload protection for the braking resistor is recommended.
- Motor Thermistor Connection: Supports PTC type thermistors for motor temperature monitoring (P2-33).
- Troubleshooting: The drive provides fault codes and TFT messages for diagnostic purposes, with corrective actions detailed in the manual (Section 11).
- Maintenance Reminders: The drive can track maintenance time elapsed (PO-24, PO-35) and trigger reminders.
- EMC Filter Disconnection: For IP20 models, the internal EMC filter and surge protection varistors can be disconnected by removing screws. For IP55/IP66 models, this requires disassembly by Invertek Drives Approved Service Partners.
