Do you have a question about the Summit Industries INNOVET SELECT HF APR and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The InnoVet Select™ HF APR is a 20 kHz high-frequency constant potential X-ray generator system designed for veterinary radiography. It is a fully integrated table/tubestand structure with the generator and transformer installed within the table base.

Function Description:

The system provides a 30 kW constant potential output from a single-phase line. It operates in a two-point control (kVp and mAs) manual mode, automatically selecting the maximum available mA for minimum exposure time, with operator override allowed. The generator includes protection circuitry to prolong tube life and enhance system performance. Self-diagnostic displays inform users and service personnel of the system's condition.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Output: 30 kW constant potential.
  • Control: Two-point (kVp and mAs) in manual mode.
  • Maximum kVp: 125 kVp.
  • Maximum mA: 300 mA.
  • Duty Cycle: Continuous for radiographic use, limited by the X-ray tube's capacity.
  • Exposure kVp Accuracy: Within ± 5% of indicated kVp, ± 1 kVp.
  • Exposure mAs Accuracy: Within ± 10% of indicated mAs, ± 1 mAs.
  • Power Line Requirements:
    • 100 AMP circuit breaker.
    • 37.5 kVA distribution transformer.
    • Wire sizes: #2 AWG for 50 feet run, #00 AWG for 100 feet run, 250 mcm for 200 feet run.
    • Maximum load voltage drop under full load: Not more than 5%.
  • Maximum Momentary Line Current (60 Hertz, Single Phase):
    • 208 VAC: 230 Amps.
    • 220 VAC: 220 Amps.
    • 240 VAC: 200 Amps.
  • Technique Factors Constituting Maximum Line Current: 100 kVp, 300 mA.
  • Compatible X-ray Tubes: Toshiba E7239 (1.0/2.0 mm focal spots), Toshiba E7242 (0.6/1.5 mm focal spots), Varian RAD 13 (1.0/2.0 mm focal spots), Varian RAD 14 (0.6/1.2 mm focal spots).
  • Compatible Collimators: Summit G800 and D800, Progeny MC150 and Linear II or Linear IV.
  • High Voltage Transformer: Filled with Shell Diala AX, a highly refined non-PCB dielectric oil.

Usage Features:

  • Operator's Console: Microprocessor-controlled entry/display port for system configuration, anatomical technique database manipulation, and calibration.
  • Memory Functions: Allows saving modified anatomical techniques to a remote Memory Card and transferring information between generators. Factory default values for calibration and APR techniques can be reburned into the Console.
  • APR (Anatomical Programmed Radiography) Mode: The system can operate in APR or MANUAL (2 Point) mode.
  • Foot Treadle (Optional): Latching prep foot treadle for exposure control.
  • Table Top Extension (Optional for Fixed-Top tables): Adds 12" of additional table top surface.
  • Animal Restraints: Nautical-style tie-down cleats screwed to the underside of the table top frame.
  • SID Detents: Factory-adjusted 40-inch SID detents for precise tube positioning.
  • Tube Roll Calibration: Allows calibration of the tube roll display for horizontal and vertical beam positions (+90, 0, -90 degrees).

Maintenance Features:

  • Routine Maintenance: Recommended every 30 to 60 days after initial installation, then every six months. Includes inspecting cables, high voltage cables (regreasing and tightening receptacles), line voltage, internal power module connections, communication cables, and verifying kVp/mAs outputs and waveforms.
  • Troubleshooting System: Extensive internal monitoring system with error codes displayed to alert operators or service engineers to system status. Error codes indicate issues such as invalid kVp/mAs/tube/kW/time limits, micro-processor restarts, communication errors, power supply issues, EEPROM corruption, prep/expose stuck signals, anode rotation errors, filament current errors, IPM overloads, kV imbalance, and mA overloads.
  • High Voltage Breakdown Testing: The system allows bypassing filament current feedback to investigate secondary arcing with an open secondary (no tube or HV cables). This is performed by setting DIP1-3 to the CLOSED (ON) position, disabling rotor and filament interlocks and feedbacks, allowing kVp generation without mA or anode spin. kVp and mA feedback test points (TP8 and TP9) on the System Controller pcb are monitored for spikes indicating breakdown.
  • Component Access: Procedures for accessing the Operator's Console PCBA, Power Module, and High Voltage Transformer are provided for service.
  • Calibration: Software adjustments on the Operator Console for kVp, mA leading edge, and stabilized mA levels. Requires test equipment such as a dual trace storage oscilloscope, mR meter, Dynalyzer (or non-invasive kVp meter, digital mAs meter, digital multimeter).
  • Filament Number Table: Allows viewing and adjustment of filament numbers controlling mA leading edge for various kVp and mA stations.
  • System Configuration: DIP switch settings on the System Controller PCBA and APR Console PCBA allow for various configurations, including simulator mode, disabling capacitor bank charging, rotor and filament disable for high voltage breakdown tests, and mA feedback enable/disable.
