What to do if my Summit S-470 Grill burner does not light, or the flame is low in the 'HI' position?
    • H
      hjohnsonAug 16, 2025
If your burner isn't lighting or the flame is low, start by checking if the fuel hose is bent or kinked and straighten it. If you can light the burner with a match, inspect the Crossover® ignition system. Ensure you hold the control knob in for two seconds after seeing the orange flame from the burner lighting tube. You can also manually light the burner. If problems persist, contact customer service.

    • J
      Jonathan JonesAug 26, 2025
If the rotisserie burner does not light, try relighting it by holding the burner control knob in and continuing to hold it for 20 seconds after the burner has ignited. Ensure you wait until the entire ceramic surface becomes alight before counting those 20 seconds. After waiting five minutes for the gas to clear, repeatedly use the snap igniter until the burner ignites.

What to do if my Summit S-470 is experiencing flare-ups?
    • W
      wreeseAug 28, 2025
Flare-ups can occur for several reasons. First, ensure you are preheating the grill correctly by setting all burners to HI for 10 to 15 minutes. Also, heavily coated cooking grates and Flavorizer® bars can cause flare-ups, so clean them thoroughly. Finally, a dirty bottom tray that prevents grease from flowing into the catch pan can also be the culprit; clean the bottom tray to resolve this.

Why is the flame low on my Summit Grill when it's on the 'HI' position?
    • K
      Kevin WrightAug 30, 2025
A low flame on the 'HI' position can be due to a bent or kinked fuel hose. Check the fuel hose and straighten it to ensure proper gas flow.

Why is the inside of my Summit S-470 lid 'peeling'?
    • U
      ucookSep 2, 2025
The lid is porcelain enamel or stainless steel, not paint, so it cannot peel. The 'peeling' you observe is likely baked-on grease that has turned to carbon and is flaking off. This is not a defect. Clean the lid thoroughly.

Why is the burner flame pattern erratic on my Summit S-470?
    • C
      Carol WeaverSep 8, 2025
If the burner flame pattern is erratic, the flame is low when the burner is on 'HI,' or the flames don't run the whole length of the burner tube, clean the burners.
  • W
    William AlvaradoSep 10, 2025
Why do the burners on my Summit Grill burn with a yellow or orange flame?
    • D
      Debra WigginsSep 12, 2025
Burners may burn with a yellow or orange flame, in conjunction with the smell of gas. This is normal for the burner lighting tube. Clean Spider/Insect Screens.
