Why is the compost too wet in my Sun-Mar Lawn and Garden Equipment?
    • N
      Nathan GomezAug 14, 2025
To address compost that is too wet in your Sun-Mar Lawn and Garden Equipment, immediately improve porosity by adding about 3-4 gallons of wood shavings (except cedar) to the drum. For ongoing maintenance, switch to Compost Sure Blue or 100% wood shavings as your bulking material. This is because poor compost porosity, often due to excessive peat moss, compacts the compost, hinders liquid drainage, and restricts oxygen flow.

      imcleanAug 18, 2025
If the room where your Sun-Mar Lawn and Garden Equipment is located is airtight: * Hold a lighter up to the air intake holes on the back of the unit. Air should be drawn into the holes. If not, check the venting for too many bends or horizontal lengths. * Provide more ventilation to the room. * Install fresh air intakes on any competing appliances.

      Peter HansonAug 21, 2025
If the vent stack of your Sun-Mar Lawn and Garden Equipment has too many bends or horizontal lengths: 1. Re-install the vent stack to reduce the number of bends or eliminate horizontal lengths. 2. If straightening isn't possible, remove the fan assembly and reduce recirculating air by covering the area between the fan exhaust and the 90-degree vent intake elbow with duct tape or similar material.
