Overview

The device described in the manual is a SUNJOE Cordless Blower, model 20VIONLT-BLW, a 20-V rechargeable blower with a maximum air speed of 120 MPH. It is designed for household use, specifically for clearing light debris and leaves from hard surfaces.

Function Description:

The cordless blower operates by generating a powerful airflow to move debris. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, which is rechargeable. The blower features an On/Off switch for operation and a two-part blower tube (upper and lower) that can be attached and removed.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: 20VIONLT-BLW
  • Battery Voltage: 20 V D.C. (Initial no-load voltage peaks at 21 volts; nominal voltage under typical load is 20 volts)
  • Battery Capacity: 2.5 Ah
  • Charging Time: 90 minutes (for full charge)
  • Battery Run Time (Max): 18 minutes
  • No Load Speed: 12000 ± 10% rpm
  • Motor: Brush motor
  • Air Speed (Max.): 120 MPH
  • Air Flow (Max.): 71 CFM
  • Weight (blower alone): 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg)
  • Weight (blower with battery installed): 3.7 lbs (1.7 kg)
  • Weight (blower with battery and charger): 4.4 lbs (2.0 kg)
  • Charger Model: iCHRG20 (EcoSharp® 20 V Lithium-ION battery charger)
  • Battery Model: iBAT20-LT (Lithium-ion LITE battery)

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The blower tube consists of an upper and lower tube. These are aligned and attached to the air outlet and to each other with a twist motion until their respective release buttons snap into position. To remove, the release button is pressed, and the tube is pulled.
  • Battery Operation: The blower uses a lithium-ion battery pack (iBAT20-LT). The battery pack is partially charged upon delivery and must be fully charged before first use.
  • Battery Charge Level Indicator: The battery pack includes a push button to check the charge level, indicated by four LEDs.
    • All 4 LEDs lit: Maximum charge.
    • 3 LEDs lit: High charge.
    • 2 LEDs lit: Decreasing charge, stop work soon.
    • 1 LED lit: Battery is flat, stop work IMMEDIATELY and charge.
  • Charging: The battery is charged using the EcoSharp® iCHRG20 lithium-ion charger. The charger's plug is inserted into an electrical wall outlet. A red light on the charging plug indicates charging, and a green light indicates a full charge. The battery pack is slid into the charger until it locks into position. The charging base also illuminates red during charging and green when fully charged. A fully discharged pack takes 90 minutes to charge.
  • Temperature Abnormality: If the battery pack temperature is outside the acceptable charging range (-4°F to 167°F / -20°C to 75°C), the charger base indicator light will flash red and green. Charging will resume normally once the temperature is within range.
  • Starting and Stopping: To start, the battery is inserted into the battery compartment, and the ON/OFF switch is slid to the "ON" position. To stop, the switch is slid to "OFF." A waiting period of at least five seconds after stopping is recommended before restarting to prevent motor damage.
  • Operating Tips:
    • Operate in daylight or good artificial light.
    • Maintain firm footing and balance.
    • Wear personal protective equipment: safety glasses/goggles, ear defenders, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and a face or dust mask in dusty environments.
    • Ensure the blower tube nozzle is not directed at people, pets, or loose debris before starting.
    • Verify the unit is in good working condition with tubes and guards in place.
    • Keep a firm grip on the handle.
    • Comply with local ordinances regarding operating hours (e.g., 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday).
    • Limit noise by operating at the lowest necessary speed.
    • Loosen debris with rakes and brooms before blowing.
    • Dampen dusty surfaces.
    • Use blowers instead of hoses for water conservation.
    • Blow debris into a safe, open area away from children, pets, open windows, or freshly washed cars.
    • Clean up and dispose of debris appropriately.
  • Air Vents: Air vents must never be covered and should be kept clear of obstructions and debris for proper motor cooling. Loose clothing, scarves, or long hair should be secured to prevent them from being drawn into the vents.
  • Blowing Operation: Hold the blower firmly with the dominant hand on the handle, sweeping side to side with the nozzle several inches above the ground or floor. Advance slowly, keeping the accumulated pile of debris in front.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Always wear protective gloves during maintenance. Do not perform maintenance while the engine is running or hot.
  • Replacement Parts: Use only original manufacturer's replacement parts, accessories, and attachments.
  • Battery Removal: Remove the battery before performing any maintenance tasks to prevent accidental starting.
  • Cleaning:
    • Store the tool, manual, and accessories in a secure, dry place.
    • Keep air vents unclogged and clean.
    • Remove dust and dirt regularly with a rag or brush.
    • Never use caustic agents or cleaning agents on plastic parts; a mild detergent on a damp cloth is recommended. Water must never come into contact with the tool.
  • Storage:
    • Examine for worn, loose, or damaged parts. Contact customer service for repairs.
    • Remove the battery from the blower before storing.
    • Clean the blower tube thoroughly.
    • Store in a dry, well-ventilated place inaccessible to children, away from corrosive agents.
  • Battery Care:
    • Avoid low discharge cycles; charge frequently.
    • Store in a cool place (ideally 77°F / 25°C) and at least 40% charged.
    • Do not throw into fire or ignite.
    • Do not exhaustively discharge; stop working when performance noticeably drops.
    • Protect from overloads, damage, and shocks. Replace damaged batteries immediately.
    • If the protective cut-off activates, do not press the ON/OFF switch.
    • Use only original battery packs.
  • Charger Care:
    • Protect the charger and its cord from damage.
    • Do not use if the cord or plug is damaged.
    • Keep away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
    • Unplug the charger when not in use.
    • Do not allow water to flow into the charger.
    • Do not overcharge batteries.
    • Do not charge batteries below 50°F (10°C).
    • Store in dry locations with ambient temperatures of 50-104°F (10-40°C).
    • Protect from moisture, rain, vapors, flammable liquids, and direct sunlight.
    • Prevent freezing (discard if stored below 32°F / 0°C for over 60 minutes).
    • Avoid electrostatic charge when handling batteries.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes numerous safety warnings, including the importance of reading the manual, wearing personal protective equipment (hearing protection, eye protection, face/dust mask), keeping bystanders and children away, avoiding loose clothing, and ensuring the blower tube is in place before operation. It also warns against using the blower in rain or wet conditions, forcing the tool, and accidental starting. Specific warnings are given for battery handling, such as avoiding dangerous environments (explosive atmospheres), charging in well-ventilated areas, and proper disposal of damaged batteries to prevent fire, explosion, or chemical burns. The manual also highlights the risk of injury from rotating blades and flying objects.
