Specifications for LP-Gas Cylinders, or the Standard for Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for transportation of Dangerous Goods and Commission, CAN/CSA-B339. • Battery: One AA battery is needed for the electronic igniter (not included).

Usage Features:

  • Outdoor Use Only: The appliance must be used outdoors in a well-ventilated space and never in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.
  • Placement: Always place the appliance on a firm and level surface, away from any combustible materials or construction. Maintain at least 40 inches (101.6 cm) side clearance from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable liquids and vapors. Do not use the appliance under overhead combustible surfaces.
  • Gas Connection: The LP gas cylinder is placed inside the appliance's cabinet and connected to the pressure regulator. A butterfly nut on the cylinder frame helps fix the cylinder in place.
  • Lighting Instructions:
    1. Ensure the control valve is OFF.
    2. Turn on the gas tank valve.
    3. Press in and turn the control valve knob counterclockwise to LOW to light.
    4. If the burner is lit, continue pressing the control valve knob for one minute to heat the thermocouple.
    5. Once the control valve knob is released, the burner should remain lit. If not, turn the knob clockwise to OFF, wait 5 minutes, and repeat the lighting process.
    6. Adjust the heat output by pressing in and turning the control valve knob to the desired setting (LOW ~ HIGH).
  • Flame Appearance: While in use, the burner flame should primarily be blue with a small amount of yellow at the tips, indicating a correct flame.
  • First-Time Use Precaution (Lava Rock): Natural lava rock may crackle or pop during the first use, potentially causing small pieces of hot lava rock to fly out. To mitigate this:
    1. Follow the product's instruction manual.
    2. Set up the fire pit table at a safe distance from combustible materials.
    3. Light the fire pit table and run the burner on high for 30 minutes.
    4. Do not go within 10 feet of the fire pit for the first 30 minutes of initial use.
    5. After 30 minutes, resume normal operation, but always keep a safe distance from the burner area.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids near the appliance.
    • An LP-cylinder not connected for use should not be stored near the appliance.
    • Solid fuels (wood, etc.) must not be burned in this gas appliance. Only use the included lava rocks.
    • Children and adults should be alerted to high surface temperatures and stay away to avoid burns. Young children and pets should be carefully supervised.
    • Do not hang clothing or other flammable materials on or near the appliance.
    • If any part of the appliance has been under water, do not use it. Call a qualified technician for inspection and replacement of affected parts.
    • Properly place the hose out of pathways to prevent tripping or accidental damage.
    • Do not kink the flexible gas hose, as this could cause a gas leak.

Maintenance Features:

  • Annual Inspection: The appliance should be inspected annually by a qualified service person. More frequent cleaning may be required.
  • Hose and Burner Inspection: Open the door and inspect the hose assembly and burner prior to each use. If there is evidence of excessive abrasion, wear, or damage, it must be replaced by an appropriate part from the manufacturer.
  • Gas Connection Inspection: Inspect gas connections prior to each use. Do not operate if there is a gas leak.
  • Leak Test: A leak check must be performed whenever the gas cylinder is replaced.
    1. Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
    2. Confirm the gas cylinder is correctly and securely connected to the pressure regulator.
    3. Turn on the gas cylinder valve.
    4. Apply a 50% soap and 50% water solution to the gas hose and connections between the control knob and gas cylinder.
    5. Bubbles indicate a leak. If a leak is found, turn off the gas supply, undo the connection, reconnect, and retest. If the leak persists, contact Customer Service.
    • WARNING: Do not use an open flame to check for leaks. Do not smoke during testing. Do not test indoors.
  • Burner Replacement: The burner must be replaced if damaged, using a part specified by the manufacturer.
  • Cleaning: The control compartment, burner, and circulating air passageways must be kept clean. If the burner is disassembled for cleaning, reassemble it according to the manual, ensuring the burner induction tunnel covers the orifice base. It is recommended not to disassemble the burner.
  • Storage:
    • Allow at least 35 minutes for the fireplace to cool down after use before disconnecting and removing the gas cylinder.
    • Store the gas cylinder in a dry, well-ventilated, and sheltered area, out of reach of children, and not in a building, garage, or any other closed area.
    • The fireplace may be stored indoors only if the cylinder is disconnected and removed.
    • Keep the fireplace area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
    • It is strongly recommended to cover the fire pit table when not in use. If left uncovered, moisture may be present, which could cause lava rocks to pop again (though this will subside after burning for 30 minutes).

Troubleshooting:

  • Gas odor: Indicates a gas leak. Refer to the "If you smell gas" warning on the front cover of the manual and check all gas connections.
  • Delayed ignition: Possible causes include low gas pressure, clogged or dirty burner ports, blocked orifice, or a spent battery. Corrective measures include checking gas supply pressure, cleaning burner ports, checking orifice opening, and changing the battery.
  • Incorrect burner flame: Possible causes include incorrect gas supply or pressure, blocked orifice, or clogged/dirty burner ports. Corrective measures include checking gas supply pressure, checking and cleaning the orifice opening, and cleaning burner ports.
