The Helios 8 is an 8-light, 240-volt controller specifically designed for the operation of high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting systems. It allows growers to run their lights for any sequence over a 24-hour period by utilizing a dual 120-volt relay activation cord set that plugs into a 24-hour wall timer. This dual trigger timing system provides flexibility, enabling the user to run two different timing schedules, such as a 12-hour light schedule and an 18-hour light schedule, if desired. Essentially, it functions like having two separate four-light controllers in one unit.
Function Description:
The Helios 8 controls up to eight 1000-watt HID metal halide or high-pressure sodium (HPS) grow lights. It provides up to 40 amps of capacity on a standard 240-volt circuit. The controller is built with high-quality components to ensure years of trouble-free service. It is designed for "Inside Use" only and is compatible with both magnetic and electronic ballasts.

- Operating Temperature: 40°F (5°C) to 125°F (52°C)
Usage Features:
- Installation: The Helios 8 requires connection to an incoming 240-volt power source via three screws under a protective back cover (black/hot leg to the left screw, neutral to the center screw, and red/hot leg to the right screw). It must be securely mounted to a wall using provided hardware, away from any spray, water, or mist. Users are advised to consult a licensed electrician and not install the controller if they do not fully understand the instructions, as high voltage is dangerous.
- Wiring: All wiring connections must be tight, with no loose wires exposed. Lights plug into the outlets on both the right and left sides of the controller.
- Timing: The relay trigger cord sets plug into an Apollo Series 120 Volt wall timer. The timer is adjusted to the current time of day, and the desired timing pattern (e.g., 12 hours ON and 12 hours OFF) is set.
- Operation: When the relay is activated via the 'relay trigger cord sets,' a "Click" sound will be heard. The Helios 8 will then control the lights according to the desired settings until the power is defeated.
- Safety: Lamps are hot and should be allowed to cool completely before handling. The controller should not be placed near heat-generating sources or in extremely humid environments. It should not be used for purposes other than its designed function and must be operated within defined environmental specifications.
- Environmental Considerations: Users are encouraged to be conscientious when disposing of any products.
Maintenance Features:
- No User-Serviceable Parts: The controller contains no user-serviceable parts, and attempts to repair the unit will void the warranty. Breaking the "warranty" seal will also void the warranty. Users are warned against inserting paperclips, tools, or other objects into the unit, as electrocution may occur.
- Troubleshooting:
- Confirm active power input from the breaker panel (240 Volts/50 Amps/60 Hz).
- Check the voltage input of the incoming cord set with a voltage test meter.
- Ensure all connections are tight to prevent "arching."
- Confirm power is active and proper at the 240-volt outlets.
- Verify power cords and ballasts are functioning correctly, with no shorts or arcing.
- If the circuit breaker trips, check its amperage for the application.
- If lights remain on after turning off power at the circuit breaker, contact the manufacturer immediately.
- For persistent problems, contact a Technical Service Representative.
- Warranty: Titan Controls® warrants the product against defects in material and workmanship under normal use for three (3) years from the date of purchase. During this period, Titan Controls® will, at its option and without charge, repair or replace the product if it fails or malfunctions. All returns or repairs require a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. The warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied. It does not cover damage from accident, abuse, misuse, modification, negligence, alteration, or misapplication. Controllers with removed, altered, or obliterated serial numbers or date tags, broken seals, evidence of tampering, mismatched board serial numbers, or nonconforming parts are excluded. Monetary refunds are not given. The buyer assumes responsibility for the use and installation of the controller. Warranty service is provided through the factory or an authorized service representative and applies only to the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories. Defective controllers must be returned with proof of purchase.
- Service and Repair Program: For all service and repairs, contact a Technical Service Representative for an RMA number. Factory service and repairs are completed within 48 hours of receipt of the controller and after customer authorization for repairs. Titan Controls® will, at its discretion, repair or replace the controller. Factory calibration services are available. Returns should be initiated through the retail store where the unit was purchased.
