Overview

The Titan Controls Helios 1 is a 4-light, 120-volt controller designed specifically for the operation of high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting systems. This controller allows users to manage their grow lights for any sequence over a 24-hour period, utilizing a premium German-manufactured analog timer. It is capable of handling up to a maximum of four (4) 1000-watt HID metal halide or high-pressure sodium (HPS) grow lights.

For added convenience, the Helios 1 includes a 120-volt accessory outlet located on the front of the controller. This outlet is active only when the lights are "ON" and can be used to power other devices up to 5 amps, such as an in-line lamp ventilation fan or a pump. The controller provides up to 50 amps of capacity on a standard 120-volt circuit, ensuring robust performance for your lighting setup. Built with only the highest quality components, the Helios 1 is designed to provide years of trouble-free service.

Instructions for Operation:

Before installation, it is strongly recommended to consult with a licensed electrician, as high voltage can be dangerous. Do not attempt to install this controller yourself if you do not fully understand these instructions.

  1. Power Connection: Connect your incoming 120-volt power to the three screws located under the protective back cover. The connections are: black/hot (left screw), green/ground (center screw), and white/neutral (right screw).
  2. Mounting: Securely mount your Helios 1 using the included hardware. Ensure it is placed near your enclosure and away from any spray, water, or mist.
  3. Power Source: Hardwire or plug the controller into a confirmed 120-volt power source.
  4. Wiring Verification: Verify that all your wiring connections are tight and that no loose wires are exposed.
  5. Light Connection: Plug your lights into the outlets on the right and left sides of the controller.
  6. Timer Adjustment: Adjust the analog timer to the current time of day. Set your desired timing pattern by pushing the "time trippers" towards the center of the timer.
  7. Cable Management: Ensure that all wires and cables have been properly secured.
  8. Activation: Turn on the power switch to activate your light bank. You will hear a "click" sound when the relay is activated.
  9. Operation: Your Helios 1 will now control your lights according to your desired settings until the power is defeated.
  10. Lamp Replacement: To change your lamps, turn "OFF" the power switch and replace the bulb.

Caution: Lamps are hot and should be allowed to cool completely before handling.

Troubleshooting Tips:

If the Helios 1 is not performing as expected, try the following steps:

  1. Power Input Check: Confirm that your power input is active from your breaker panel and providing 120 Volts/50 Amps/60 Hz to the controller.
  2. Voltage Input Verification: Check the voltage input of your incoming cord set using a voltage test meter to verify power is flowing to the controller.
  3. Connection Tightness: Ensure all your connections are tight. Loose connections can cause "arching."
  4. Outlet Power Check: Confirm that power is active and proper at your 120-volt outlets.
  5. Ballast and Cord Functionality: Verify that your power cords and ballasts are functioning properly and that there are no shorts or arcing occurring.
  6. Circuit Breaker Tripping: If your circuit breaker keeps tripping, check your breakers to verify that they are the correct amperage for your application.
  7. Lights Remain On: If you turn "OFF" the power switch and your lights remain on, contact us immediately for resolution.
  8. Further Assistance: If you are still having problems with your Helios 1, please contact our Technical Service Representative for further assistance.
