Installing the pipe through the roof
When installing the pipe through the roof, put a mark in the ceiling where the hole should be – aer
posioning the pipe vercally towards the planned hole. Ensureš that you avoid potenal raers.
The appropriate diameter of the hole needed will depend on the roof pitch. Start o by drilling through
the ceiling with a thin but suciently long drill, enabling you to use a hole saw from both sides
aerwards. This inially small hole will then also guide the central pilot drill of the hole saw.
When installing the pipe through a tar paper/shingle roof, the cu supplied in the installaon package
should be used. The tar paper/shingle should be heated and placed so that it covers the part of the cu
that is above the roof; the lower part of the cu should be glued in place. Use generous amounts of
asphalt glue. For turf roofs with a membrane underlay, professional assistance from a roofer should be
sought.
For turfed roofs with tar paper underneath, the pipe is installed in the same way as described for tar paper
roofs. The drainage layer covers the tar paper, and should be adjusted so that lies adjacent to the pipe.
For le and le plate roofs, the cu should also be sealed against the tar paper underlay. Please contact
a roofer or a nsmith to get a metal plate that seals the area between the pipe and the les/le plates.
